Lovely pics and well done to your daughter
Brilliant, lovely photos, always brings a smile seeing youngsters enjoying being outside.
It much be so satisfying if you have a child that enjoys a similar hobby/sport to yourself. Well done to you both.
I’ve said this before but I clearly remember the realisation that LO transitioned from being a young kid running a bit to a proper training buddy.
Your own kids doing because they want to, not because they think it’s making you happy. It’s a feeling that’s hard to describe.
Bit of tourism for us tomorrow. Winchester isn’t on (another overpriced foodie festival).
Think we might trek up to Greenham Common. Not done it before but did pace a mate to a sub 45 10km race there a few years ago.
Trying to get LO’s 100 sometime in Oct. Tomorrow will be her 90th I think but we’ll miss a couple due to upcoming hols.
Ooph… I bet that would be a rough course on a windy day!? (I’ve not done it, so the course may be sheltered, but had a bit of a wander around there a few years ago and it was very windy)
Yes it would be windy. I remember the 10km one being in Oct or Nov, extremely wet and windy. I also remember a large amount of dips and deep puddles on the gravel trail.
Good job I don’t fall over much
Newbury done. Nice course overall, fairly tight at the start with over 500 runners but we got through by placing ourselves close to the front. Apparently the bottleneck causes people to walk further back.
Couple of small rises in the last km which let you know you’re working.
24,02 for me and 23.48 for LO and her 90th done. (Mrs FP stayed home)
Visiting my parents, and since I’m in decent form at the moment headed along to Hove Prom for the first time hoping to set a parkrun pb.
Doing 2 HIIT classes at the gym yesterday (having not done any for years) probably wasn’t the best preparation, legs were feeling a bit stiff in the warmup.
On the start line I found myself lined up next to Harry Morgan and Jog On (YouTuber) but they didn’t seem to be filming. He spotted a girl in a Philly Bowden vest, so took a photo and sent it to Philly.
Set off at a crazy 3:15 pace before backing off to 3:30. Felt like I was developing a stitch, got hot and gradually slowed. Rallied for the last km to finish around 18:20 in 18th, which would be my 2nd quickest parkrun.
Back on the tourist trail for me today at Blackhill, Consett. For those of you old enough to remember Phileaus Fogg crisps, Meadomsley Road, Consett, Co Durham
Anyway, a small lap then 3 bigger ones and quite undulating, nice little course but barely 40 people. Field spread quickly and I got bumped to fourth about halfway and that was it.
Really suffering though, Garmin has my HR around 178bpm which is the high end for me, and that was the chest strap. Probably fairly accurate and I’m definitely still struggling with what I had.
But another NE one ticked off.
Need to get shot of this lurgy though.
178 av?!?
Max, but was around that for about half, but I’m suspicious of the chest strap, it was hard work though.
165 average for me today
172 max
20:19 ( a one second pb!)
Very slow opening km 4:16 ! But then got going
Ran with the 55-60 winner all the way till he dropped me on the last grassy hill, fair play he had proper trail shoes on and was nearly 59 it’s a crappy course but they were overkill!
Chatting to him at the end, proper runner!
275 there today. 15 th overall LOL Enjoyed it
Newbury again for us, all 3 of us this time. LO took off like a wild thing, through the initial melee and settled in.
All going well until the last km, there are two little rises and leading into the first one I could feel my left calf going pretty tight and LO was edging ahead. In between the two rises it went really tight and I had to slow to a walk.
A guy just behind us said he’d run with her when I told her tp keep going. I walked the rest and at the end I thanked the guy and he said ’ I didn’t really do anything, she just sprinted away from me anyway’
Results aren’t out yet but a 28.38 for me and LO forgot her watch, so no idea.
WOHOO, PB for LO with a 22.56
67/545 and 7th female overall.
Brilliant !
how old again? That’s not shabby at all.
Has the baton been handed over in your house yet? Happened here when Junior #1 was 13
10.5 yrs old. Yeah, reckon I have about a year until she’s beating me solid at the 5km distance. I’m faster at the moment but need to build a lead because when she kicks at the end, I can’t go with her these days.
Burnham for us today. A bizarre combination of being very windy but somehow still humid AF.
23.32 for LO and she came 4tjh female and 70th overall out of a field of 363.
I had absolutely nothing and for the first time was praying for LO to sprint ahead so I could back right off, which I did. 23.48 and spent. Feeling my age lately but more importantly, feeling my weight. A miserable combo
Volunteer again today, still don’t feel like doing much from the lurgy.
24th time volunteering.
