Guessing numbers will be down this weekend as everyone is pressing F5 on ticketmaster
Did they co-ordinate to reduce the numbers turning up to Bushy for the 1000 then?
Itās doesnāt appear so.
Theyāve sent out some advice, like no coach parking in the carpark. If you need the loo spend some cash in the local coffee shops and use theirs - theres only the one loo block just next to the playground, that could get messy.
Just under 1800 Saturday - itāll be Interesting to see the numbers.
Iām going to go, havenāt been park running all summer now. I think Iāll set an alarm, canāt be turning up late and trying to run through a mega horde of people and then waiting for god knows how long in the funnel
Thereās still the big coach park for HCP there right? Itās probably not a bad location for people who do insist on getting a coach to a parkrun, but it seems bloody weird to me.
Completely agree, getting an organised coach trip to a parkrun seems mad, maybe Iām just being a miserable old git though. Having said that, our tri club are setting out a gazebo with drinks and snacks to celebrate!
And yeah I think Bushy are just directing all the tourists to HC and go from there
Think I might drag myself along and walk / shuffle around.
bloody hell! 400 is a good turnout at Winchester.
Itās quite a sight, of that number I believe just under 500 were first timers - Bushy being the first seems to have this ādrawā that folks have to say theyāve done it.
I prefer doing the events that have around 100 or so, they donāt feel too big, a nice feel about them. Bushy is such a beast that it has around 70 volunteers each week!
wow! Winch is lucky to get 200 in the depths of winter.
Local parkrun today, they had pacers on but Iād left it too late for 23 minutes and wasnāt sure if Iād get round in 22 without killing myself.
Started steady until the 23 minute pacer caught me because his GPS wasnāt great, picked it up as he backed off.
Ended up with 21:19 and nearly a course PB
Felt surprisingly good and could have possibly gone sub 21 with a bit more effort! Pleased and baffled really
Bushy was absolute carnage today. The amount of people who turned up was insane. I turned up with about 30 seconds to spare and just had to roll with the crowd. Had to essentially walk the first km and it didnāt get much better. Itās the first time Iāve not been able to cross the finish line and have to wait to get I to the finish funnel.
Actually probably spent longer waiting in the funnel than the run and it just got worse for the guys behind. Seen that @wheezy finished well into the 4000ths and with a hand written finish token?!
24.08 for me today, 23.46 for LO
Just been reading that they were probably over 5000! Sounds like they started giving them out again
I think the next 1000th is about 2 years at Wimbledon, then thereāll be a few in the years after, my local one has about 4 years I think even though they started in 2008. It would struggle with more than 1000 at the most but hopefully it wonāt be as big by then as thereās at least 8 before it, although it is most northern one after Sheffield.
Winchester is a relative baby at 491 then!
Walked/jogged around with my dad. We ended up having to queue about 50mtr from the finish line, and we were in the funnel for about 1hr20! All good natured though. I was 4469th and I reckon there were at least another 1000 people still in the funnel. Yes, no tokens so writing finish numbers on our hands and hand writing names and numbers on paper. The results are definitely going to be a best guess.
Did you let your dad cross first, or out sprint him for the win?
Dipped him at the line!
Iām hearing over 5500!
A few from my club couldnāt be arsed with the queue and just went home
ETA - Parkrun insta reckon over 6000
Of course, no easy wins, donāt give em out for free
