And a podium!
Not a race fella.
But
It is a race
It’s timed
It’s a race !
I was hoping for a good parkrun this morning, somewhere around 21:00 which would be a big years best time, have been working my way down from 24 min the past few months.
Drove to a different (bigger) one where I’d have come around 50th from last results, but didn’t realise it was cancelled.
Did at least do my longest run of the year with a nice steady 12km along the coast
Life has got much worse this week (possibly something for the other thread) so dragging myself to Parkrun was a win before I’d started.
It was pacer week, so decided on 23:00
Had one guy with me the whole way.
At one point about 3km we caught the 22:00 pacer, but let them both know I was bang on.
Came in at 22:55
Parkrun, that well known collection of 3̶.̶1̶0̶6̶8̶6̶ ̶m̶i̶l̶e̶ 5km events for runners and walkers that take place every Saturday morning
Nice consistent pacing
That does not sound good @funkster, we’re here if you want to talk or off load.
Nice pacing👍
The 5k app is your friend here. They update it when events have been cancelled!
I was in Battersea Park while ParkRun was on yesterday. Just for @Adam I think they started 10 minutes late
From the results, it looks like they had 1142 runners and a 25:00 would have just sneaked into the top 500.
The fastest guy did 15:00
Lots of events already being cancelled tomorrow due to the weather forecast, in fairness there’s a red alert for wind in parts of the SW
Good job I’m not doing a long trail race this weekend on an exposed area of high ground
On the plus side all the biscuits I’m eating will provide me with ballast
Saw an announcement that the Royal Parks are making a decision. Can’t remember the last time Bushy was cancelled.
Will have a peek on the 5k app tomorrow am and hop in the car somewhere
I saw that the Cheviot Goat course was being rerouted due to the forecast
Hopefully you won’t bear the worst of it
Gym for me tomorrow
I think another fell race has been binned.
Ours is on the North York Moors where it’s always glorious and sunny so I should be fine
Second time the event has ever had to be cancelled (covid aside) the other was the men’s Olympic road race in 2012
Looks like the decision was taken out of their hands with the Royal Parks deciding to close.
A lot of the cancellations so far seem to be the landowners instead of the events, forestry have forced a few, probably concerned a tree goes down on someone.
We seem to be less affected, although I’m supposed to be course checker!
Ours has just been canned.
I think pretty much all of them in the SW & Wales are off.
I’m going early to check the course now, mostly for any tree damage as it should hold the water!
