Parkrun

I just jogged around with Mrs FP today for a 29.05

LO ran ahead and came 48/458 and 3rd female overall with a 23.00 dead. Given how muddy it was today was a monumental effort. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

She came 1st in JW11-14 but itā€™s tight at the top with a 23.00, 23.04 and 23.11 separating them !

Congratulations to LO, that sounds like a brilliant effort :clap::clap:

Sheā€™s got some great competition there. Are they all regulars at your local parkrun?

Possibly but weā€™ve never really kept an eye on that AG because it was one above. I donā€™t know the names but I might recognise the faces.
LO knows who they are now though.

Yeah, sheā€™s probably trash-talked them about letting them come 2nd
:roll_eyes::rofl:

I guess theyā€™re probably all older than her?

I assume so, sheā€™s only been 11 for a month

The scary thing was that she was gaining on the 2nd overall female and only came in 2 seconds after her.

Sheā€™s doing amazing but the ā€˜Sheā€™s left you behind again Dadā€™ helpful comments from the locals never get old.

ā€œIt was brought to our attention earlier by several people that one of the runners (top 10) when attempting to pass a young female said ā€œget out of the way you fucking mongā€ā€¦ā€¦
If that individual is reading this post I hope you spend some time this weekend reflecting on your behaviour.

Tim Grose has done his (kind of) annual parkrun ranking update: Content Item

The fallen trees had been removed so stayed local again today but got there early so I could do a 5K warmup. That was a struggle, the cold damp air was getting on the lungs and my sinuses are bunged again :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Started the main run fairly steady and got to halfway about 22:30 pace, picked it up a bit and at 4k thought I could get a long 21 if I got a move on. 3:54 last K and I finished about 21:40, I went past a man and woman with about 400m to go but he got all competitive and wanted a sprint finish so I just let him go.

I ran 5km to parkrun and then went around with Mrs FP for a 28.45.

LO ran with the 24.00 pacer and was planning to go on ahead but she said she wasnā€™t feeling it today, so dropped back for a 24.46.

Itā€™s incredibly slippery out there today.

I was in Battersea Park with the dogs while ParkRun was on today. We saw the start from the other side of the playing fields and I reckon the last runners passed the start line about 3 minutes after the first runners.

There were hoards of people running today.

I know a few people doing the tourist thing there today so wonder if it was a bigger organised group, but isnā€™t it one of the most central London runs?

I guess itā€™s a fast course because itā€™s completely flat and on roads with only 4 corners per lap.

The fast guys must be overtaking a lot of people on their 2nd lap

Iā€™m fairly sure one of the York runs is a 1K loop and flat so the fast ones possibly lap the majority of the field!

OK, something a bit weird must have happened with the 24.0 pacer. I had the email for LO and it said she ran a 23.45, which was odd because she said to me that she ran a 24.45.

Then she said ā€˜oh yeah, I stopped my watch after the funnelā€™ :man_facepalming:t2: But I said to her ā€˜I thought you dropped away from your pacerā€™?

Turns out that she didnā€™t so much drop away as couldnā€™t keep up. I double checked that she finished behind her pacer and she said she did and there were 3 others that couldnā€™t keep up.

I asked her if she could see him in sight when she finished and she said ā€˜noā€™. So lord knows what pace he ran, 23.0 or faster by the sounds of it! :man_shrugging:t2:

I think thatā€™s the usual sort of turnout that they get at Battersea. Itā€™s only been going for about 3 months though, so thereā€™s probably still people trying to tick it off. It would be a pretty good option for anyone staying in central London because Battersea Power Station is on the Northern Line and itā€™s close to overland stations from Waterloo and Victoria.

The park is always full of runners, especially at this time of year with New Year health kicks and people training for the marathon

I have seen them get a bit carried away at times or sometimes forget which pace theyā€™re supposed to be.

Not very helpful if youā€™re on the limit wondering why you canā€™t keep up!
