Oxford for me, bit of a dull course tbh starting with 2 short loops where you’re immediately lapping people and congested.
Was another body test, knee felt a bit better and groin is still sore though.
I did put a bit of effort in and finished in 21:16, it was slightly short though but mostly on grass or track.
Was running next to an M70 for a bit who got something like a 87% age grade, clearly been a good runner in his day and probably one of fruity’s targets!
Not me, but my brother drove out to do the Severn Bridge PR. Set a pb by the looks of iit, so couldn’t have been too windy. A very simple out and back on the bridge.
We are “away” for the weekend in Trowbridge (less than an hour away) for a family gathering, so went to a new one, Southwick Country parkrun this morning with the MIL.
Had a very disturbed night, saw every hour on the clock, so not ideal for a quick effort but gave it a bit of a go anyway.
The course is just under 3 laps on hard packed trails, similar to my local but probably less potholes, and a bit more undulating, but not as big a single climb.
Started with a 3:55/km, then the next few just over 4:00, quicker last one but could only manage 20:07.
Felt like I had a stitch coming on, and during the cool down I was in real pain.
Ffs couldn’t get the cursor in the right place so posted then when editing also couldn’t…
Think it was just indigestion, and thankfully it passed by the time I completed the extra lap, mainly walking. MIL managed to unlap herself. At one point I thought I wouldn’t be able to drive back.
Made my way round Aldenham parkrun in 24 mins this morning. Need to get some consistency back in my running. Hard with a lot of commuting for work but spring marathon on the books.
Down in Brighton this weekend. My parents live around 500m from one, so historically always done that, but made a bit of an effort on recent visits to try some others. Previously done 2 in Hove, so now headed east to Bevendean Down. As always left the house a bit later than intended so had to jog a little quicker than planned the just over 3km to get there. I forget how hilly Brighton is. I was knackered getting there.
The course itself was all on grass, they recommended trail shoes, but my road shoes were fine. 2 laps with a big long hill, Strava reports 130m
of elevation. Great views at the top.
Travelled north today for some tourism at Ashington, small event in a wood at the edge of the town. Track was drier than I expected and a really nice course. Was sort of 2 laps.
Groin is still sore but was going a bit quicker than I thought. Little uphill drag for the last K but I was running on my own after about 2.5k
Finished in 21:40 which wasn’t bad and not flat out, good enough for 6th in a small field of 70 something.
That’s 29/40 of the NE courses as there’s been 4 added this year, will try and chip away at the rest.
Been away from our local one for about a month. Put last nights fancy dress back on. Was nice to be able to hang put at the cafe afterwards due to a lack of kids clubs.
Think this might have been the first time I did a parkrun in jeans. My watch died and waiting on the results but I think it’ll be my slowest ever one and I collected token 501. Son #2 finished in front of me having earlier said he wasn’t going to go through the funnel (not sure why him and his brother sometimes refuse to do it). Annoyingly I already have 1 in the position bingo challenge, but I don’t have a 00!
