And Emma Pallant too
Joining?
Had she left that team then? Canāt remember the last version of their name. Bmc something.
Iām feeling dumb āGTBā?
Georgia Taylor Brown
Thanks. genuinely had never heard of her but I rarely follow ITU these days.
Perhaps Specialized are dividing up the total of LCBās old contracting and using the scattergun approach for more demographics?
Do keep upā¦!
I had to think tooā¦!?
All the eggs in the Olympic basket maybe. And all ānormalā road bikes for draft legal rather than obscure TT superbikes.
But they signed Amberger and Pallant, both long coursers.
Who knows.
She apparently wasnāt on much from what I read elsewhere. She signed a deal not long after turning pro, so had no palmares other than her AG performances
Could be a case of her realising her worth and Specialized not.
I suspect that LCB terminated the deal, I think that the game has moved on since the Shiv was designed, and its really not a great looking bike. LCBās value as an athlete has also risen dramatically, she certainly has the potential to become a household name.
Orbea and Canyon both have great new TT bikes. Canyon makes most sense, but Orbea could be a dark horse
Amberger is an interesting. He has a great social media image, his writing and humor differentiate him from many others. GTB is more about the Tarmac, Specialized want lots of road bikes in shorter distance races
GTB is a potential Olympic gold medallist this year, and World Champion. Far more exposure than a minority sport like Ironman.
With exclusive coaching, in-house media and trademarking ābattle braidsā Reece is probably launching their own bike brand.
Well they have around £86000 a year income from coaching now but not sure if it is enough to build a bike
Is the Ā£86000 per athlete, or totalā¦
Just £900 a month. Think she said it closed off at 8 athletes.
Obv you get a Roth entrance and some kit for your £££ but there must be a pretty penny in it.
50% of that is from Lionel.
Perhaps LCB asked for too much to renegotiate, or Specialised couldnāt be bothered to play third or fourth fiddle to Red Bull, Endura, Roka, etcā¦
I agree that her public profile is tailored to an inch of its life, and she thinks sheās an attractive option (in every sense of the word, in this example shaped to sponsors).
I can understand why some companies, especially faced with financial uncertainty, are thinking twiceā¦
Canāt blame her for that. Itās a short summer to āmake hayā in the long course game.
I remember, there was a surfer called Pauline Menczer (from WA), she was an incredible surfer, winning the amateur WC and Pro WC. She was head and shoulders above anything that was happening in womenās surfing at the time.
Despite all this talent, she always struggled for money, even when she was WC and sponsors were thin on the ground. Main reason was that she was short, had short dark hair and was not āglamourousā
There were plenty of female surfers doing better than her with half of the talent. You canāt blame them for that but it was a sad reflection of the times and this was way before social media.
Not at all, I donāt blame her in the slightest. Look at rugby, my wife knows who James Haskell is, but has no idea about Hill, Back, Curry, Billy V, etc.
After all, we see it all the time, at work, where individuals choose their promotion strategy.
Perhaps just offering a reason why the split may have happened.
