I think Ulrich was the product of an East German state doping program, so that’s not going to help
I was listening to that this am… pretty good!
The Sunday journo boy was calling him out from early on - yes Lance and his riders focused solely on the tour didn’t they - the blue train was it? Or was that team Sky lol … Then he proceeded to destroy peoples careers and reputations: a psychopath if ever there was one. In a way at least now he can offer fascinating insight into the doping culture as he was at the epicentre of it. If he’d been running a big company I imagine he’d have done very very very very well and would have had a much happier retirement
So, what’s on today at the WC?
Mountain Biking
- E-MTB Cross-Country
Say what?
Didn’t Sagan race this at the last WC?
Sagan needs an e-Bike these days
I thought he always had one?
Womens individual time trial is on now. Canadian national champion [two years running] and third at the PTO open last week Paula Findlay is off at just after 15:29.
Nigeria are on a road bike. Afghanistan are also on a road bike but with aero bars. Good on them for doing their best with what they have.
They should do a separate road bike category.
If they can have a separate e-bike MTB race, it’s not like they are short of rainbow kerseys to hand out. It night also help adoption of the road bike category at amateur level, if people see on TV that they don’t need a TT bike.
Presumably these are people who came for the road race but their team have been give a place in the TT too, so they’re doing a 2nd race while they’re here
Findlay came 25th, which I reckon is a really good performance.
If the German guy had forced Pidcock off, I wonder if the commentary would have been so glowing about the move?
This is the best shot I’ve seen of Pidcock’s move. I’m no expert but I don’t think it’s too bad. Pidcock took the line in the corner and got ahead, other guy tried to stay on a line which was no longer there and slid out
I know nothong about MTB racing so there is that.
To me Pidcock comes up on the inside but then drifts out because he is.going too fast to hold the inside line. That then forces the German guy out.
Yeah I’d say that’s a suitably pidcock-esque move. He is a precocious little kid. I’m not sure he’s taken to being beaten by the big boys too well. Sunday will be interesting viewing.
I read this morning thatost if the Nigeria team’s bikes didn’t make it to Glasgow but didn’t see why. They had to borrow bokes to compete.
I think a few of the African teams had problems getting visas to enter the UK.
Where was it a few years ago when a football team went AWOL to avoid going back? Might have been the North Korean’s?
Didn’t some Brits get into bother for over staying their visas after the Sydney Olympics?
