Chaos on the gravel
Educate me TT brethren.
Todays stage.
They using gravel bikes throughout? Or road bikes? Or a weird hybrid?
It wouldnāt say much for the sponsors gravel bike if they werenāt running them
. Probably not too much in it in practice but they are mostly on 32mm tyres.
I should get some
Kind of bonus points for picking the rider that donates his bike to Vingegaarde

I would have thought road bikes with wider, more durable tyres, pretty much like Paris-Roubaix ![]()
Thereās more road than gravel and a pure gravel bike would be slower than a road bike
Yeah, in an interview with Kung before the stage he said the only difference was 28mm tyres and a fraction lower pressure.
Surely the main point of that stage was to appeal to Americans and sell gravel bikes?
It made a visual change for the audience but I donāt think it was a good stage for the Tour, added jury and mechanics risk for not much, and the race was basically a mess.
But most of them are riding 28mm tyres now.
Lower Crr, more aero with the new rim widths and fork designs, plus more comfort.
Itās only the Div2 teams who seem to be on 25mm.
For some of the TT riders, theyāve a 25/28 combo (which is a lot better than the 21/23 tubulars at 200psi combo of yore!!!)
Tbf stendard was just repeating what Kung said. ![]()

Maybe why Küng isnāt do so well in the TTs now ![]()

GCN videos get up close and personal with the bikes and have had the verniers out on some pro tyres. Most of which appear to be 28.4mm (Conti GP super secret tyre)
Some riders were using 32mm yesterday, too ![]()
