So that’s the end of Froome’s cycling career I suspect. Bit of a sad way to end it. Hope he makes a full recovery

Froome stopped being competitive when he had his last big accident, but you’re a long time retired, so I can’t say in blame him for riding out his Israel contract, even when his results didn’t merit the reported salary :man_shrugging:

Exactly this. It’s not his fault they paid him a ridiculous large contract. I’m sure all of us would do the same.

You’ve missed the Gary Stephenson thread then :joy:

Actively tries to ignore it. Thoroughly depressing (the topic, not TT contributions to the thread).

Just watched stage 3.

So funny, Campenaerts in aero position drilling it on the front with Matteo Jorgenson in second wheel, chest and head in the wind, along with the rest of the peloton, behind the slight areo figure of Victor Campenaerts

PS apparently I won stage 4 (oh not me, just the same surname, well done Ben)

Sorry, edit for Ben… capital as its a name.

I’m not sure if you’re on Instagram but Victor Campaenaerts is doing brilliant vlogs, his main buddy is Jorgensen but he ropes all the team in & they’re all happy to have the piss gently ripped out of them.

The first day of the Vuelta they were all waxing their noses…

Looks amusing :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I’d appreciate the pull from Campenaerts, but like from me, people got next to benefit (not that I was any good), they where not getting any benefit from him except… the carrot… pace setting.

My riding partner back in the day was like Jorgenson, but at amature level, bigger in frame and strong… he would pull, Id go through and he’d get minimal benefit… rolling terrain he’d kill me… hills after rolling I could hang or in an event drop him, we would always come back together if flat for the last 6 miles, 10km… then there would be an acceptance, we’d roll in together.

UAE Postal having a great Vuelta!

Sounds worse for Froome than first thought, he really needs to consider if it is worth it now?

His contract ends at the end of the year, so I assume he was planning on retiring this year anyway

Exactly what I thought. And Pidcock.

On the other hand, ISR must be loving their investment. Someone must be having a REALLY bad day if he’s moved up a spot.

Has someone above him been banned and had their results scrubbed?

Palestine protesters sabotaged today’s Vuelta finish. Interesting that anti Israel/pro Palestine protests were much less visible in the Giro & Tour. But Palestine flags everywhere in this year’s Vuelta.
