It’s a Basque thing, as a people seeking more independence they have much more sympathy for the struggle in Gaza.

It’s similar to the support that the historically oppressed ROI have given.

SBS Australia have most of the cycling- grand tours, classics. world champs etc.. I don’t recall them ever not having it but if it did go elsewhere it can’t have been for more than a year or 2..:man_shrugging:

They got rid of Robbie McEwen as expert comments a few years back and now have Gerrans who is nowhere near as good IMHO..

Palestine protester causing a spill in the Vuelta. Incident #3 from my counting.

I think IPT continuing in the Vuelta is becoming untenable. The riders are at risk, the stages are becoming devalued & less engaging for viewers & many of the other riders & local goverments don’t want them there.

Explain this to me like I’m ten years old. :person_shrugging:

People are dumb.

They see the word Israel = must protest.

Riders are innocent.

Look after the remaining. The 8 that are removed still get their pay cheque.

But that’s victimisation of Israel right? Bit no win really.

The billionaire owner of IPT loves his country & loves using his wealth to promote Israel.

Enough people are willing to show their displeasure at what Israel is doing in Gaza by protesting at & disrupting Vuelta stages. These protests have caused rider crashes & shortened stages at the Vuelta.

Can politics & sport be considered separate when countries - not just Israel - pour money in to sportswash?

without Bahrain , Qatar and UAE pouring money into cycling, it would be in a bigger financial mess. the only people that suffer then are team members, those around the fringes barely earning a living as it is. Is a difficult debate to have in a sport like cycling (or any “minority” sport)

Aside from the politics it is ruining the race, endangering the riders and making it a bit dull to watch (aside from the fact UAE are winning everything).

The other rides must be hoping they leave now for racing and safety reasons.

We need Haribo or Wrob & Wryan to sponsor a team, something we can all get behind.
