Some results for you. Kat Matthews decided not to take part. She didn’t say why (on instagram).
LCB is just a different breed ![]()
I’m not sure I agree with commentators that her best strategy is to hold back on the swim. I think her first WC will be gun to tape, or at least her best IM swim effort. And the key will be believing she deserves it on the run.
I’m convinced her morale goes long before her endurance. Something in the way she talks about herself in her social media, when she told a competitor to go for it because she was done at one of the PTO races, and the way she came back at Kona to regain 2nd place. Physically I think she’s got it and had it for a while now.
Knibb 3 mins back
Looking forward to this race
Knibb just toying with them there.
@fruit_thief - LCB is a former un-Olympic swimmer, having been beat in the Great North Swim. She turned to zookeeping, then started triathlon. A shame she didn’t go to Nepal, really, as she’d have a WC by now.
she has got a WC hasn’t she? 70.3 St George 2021
didn’t know about the zookeeping, that’s niche ![]()

C’mon. That’s like saying you won the ITU LD Champs ![]()
Think she did that too.
All that said, it’s a very strong field. Plus there’s a lot of money to be made from American women getting on the podium.
which LCB won in 2022 in Samorin
and c’mon keep up - it’s not ITU these days - World Triathlon innit
Exactly my point.
Meaningless until she has the actual WandaVision Sports Triathlon Corporation Ironman World Championship Kona.
Has Kona happened yet? I’m not tracking at all tbh. I wonder how big the AG field will be.
This Saturday.
I reckon @gingerbongo ’s daughter could claim a last minute slot after her 2nd place in her triathlon debut over the weekend ![]()

I’ve already spent too long on ebay looking at 24" road bikes! ![]()
Need to get her bike handling up a bit first though. She’s barely ridden her bike. Our fault really as we have such a big difference in ability between big and small, and come the weekend we like to do stuff together.
To be triathlete? Really?

True. She’s better than half of the people I passed on the Wales course last month!
You’ll be telling us she’s doing more swim training than you next.
She swims twice a week - once with school, and one lesson down at the sports centre. She’s only in Stage 5 but is probably not going to be very far away from being quicker than me!!

… and back on topic. I’m actually really looking forward to Kona on Saturday. Just started diving into the start list and watched a GTN video etc.
There are at least 6 ladies that are going to be right at the top battling away. And that’s before the wildcards from 7-20 that could have a great day.
Something about Sodaro that just doesn’t click with me. Hope she doesn’t win.
Would love to see Kat win, that’d be ace. But i think she’s more of a solid podiumer. Similarly would be lovely to see LCB finally get a win.
I do however think it’ll either be one of the Germans - Haug/Phillip or Knibb just absolutely kills it (she’ll either win or finish down in the top 10 i reckon).
Should be good though.
