What the F**** has Sam done? Initially I felt sypathy for him, however, the more I think about it the angrier I get. Any athlete should be able to make a complaint about another athlete to the ITA, and they chose whether to investigate or not. Have we have learned nothing from Lance Armstrong scandal. Sam has had a go at RVB for sending a mail to the ITA and criticises publicly other athletes who were questioned by the ITA.
What does he have to gain from this approach other than venting?
If he did take PEDs the most likely outcome is that there is insufficient evidence, case closed and no one hears about it

Now everyone knows about it, many people will think that there is no smoke without fire, he has pissed off a load of athletes. To my mind attacking a whistleblower publically is bringing the sport into disrepute
FWIW I think he is probably inocent, if he was actually taking PEDs I can’t believe anyone would take to instagram like that. ST seems to have found him guilty already

Let’s not confuse sporting intelligence for actual intelligence. All they’ve known all their life is sport and nothing else. They’re not often (Lucy gossage and a few others buck the trend) very well educated and understand the implications of all the processes and procedures in place.
He’s clearly going to regret this whichever way it goes, but it’s not unsurprising behaviour from a sportsperson.

The question is - how did Sam find out that RVB mailed the ITA?
I was at the Elite athlete briefings in Pontevedra where one of the ITA staff gave a presentation on ITA and clean sport. They have a secure channel for anyone to report suspicions about an athlete which is confidential and will be acted upon.

I was very surprised by his outburst. As @awildt said, shows a lack of maturity and foresight.
It’s a funny one, and I agree with a lot what you’re saying @Matthew_Spooner. That said, if he didn’t respond we know he’d face trial by social media. And, even if he was completely innocent, his silence may show he’s trying to hide something.
That said, he’s handled this poorly.

I agree with most of post except last paragraph. This has come out not because of an ‘investigation’ but I feel because of the findings of the investigations.
An interesting 1-2 weeks ahead - my expectation is Sam is handed a violation, this investigation has been going a long time with a number of ‘court’ proceedings already completed.

As much as I want to claim inferred success from his British parents, he comes across as untrustworthy.
I thought the conflict with Long was just British taunting, but he started looking like someone with something to hide in every interview. Maybe it’s just youth or the lack skill in presenting himself. Or maybe arrogance that he can just be himself.
I hope that intuition and body language fails me, and I’m totally wrong but I wait for some indication…Literally this year I was falsely accused of wrong doing by someone who was convinced purely on his interpretation of my body language, he eventually apologised and I was exonerated. So I don’t claim to be sure, but it does look wrong. And Sodaro. (Rolls in hand grenade)

I can’t think of any other reason why you’d publicly out yourself as being subject to a doping investigation unless news of it was about to come out anyway
