25 thousand dollars for the winner.
Long?
Not sure this thing is sustainable - no crowd, not much buzz, boring course. Maybe other venues will be more interesting like the Alcatraz course one in San Francisco.

I bailed late on the bike, ground down by no commentary and virtually dark bike footage
.
This, plus dull course, tiny field and no crowd atmosphere probably had a few folk saying ‘phew’ in Ironman HQ. The number of DNF’s meant it had a training day feel.
Can’t see the wow factor, like the first time you saw Kona footage and thought ‘I have to do this’.
It’s going to need some work and using that course to start with was a poor choice. Might get some support on other races, particularly if there’s an age group event?
Yep fully agree, proper dull.
I turned it off after 6-7 k on the run.
India Lee won ? I’m assuming LCB came second.
The dark parts of the course and no sound was very poor.
I went to bed - can’t see a replay on Eurosport today, anyone know if there is somewhere to catch up?
I don’t know the result.
The venue wasn’t great but the racing itself was alright. Great race for India Lee, solid from LCB and nice to see Holly Lawrence back on form. Gutted for Kat Matthews.
I reckon the heat did for AB rather than a lack of fitness, which I guess is good. Ditlev is really impressive. Sam Long looks quite big built for a triathlete, a bit like KB is.
I’m watching the women’s race at the moment so don’t know the result yet but it’s a good race so far (11k to go on the run is where I am now).
You should be able to watch it on YouTube if you have a VPN set to a USA server. On the PTO YouTube channel.
Yeah I don’t do this, by choice. Ah well. Will scroll up for the results.
Eurosport have a review and highlights programme on later this week.
YouTube highlights were okay.
The course is so dull. I think the tri community said years ago that they had to make extra effort on these courses, do nascar style analysis of gaps and accelerations etc to make it interesting.
There’s definitely things you can do on a race track that can’t be done out in the sticks, but no effort has been made.
When the series was launched they said something like the plan was to make T100 one of the top sports in the world to watch. Top 5 maybe?
Well, some of the racing was ok but in three and a bit hours for each race not a lot happened to keep you glued to the screen. I watch Kona start to finish each year. I can’t see myself watching each of these races throughout - and I’m a big fan of the sport.
It also looked cheap. The ladies podium that they stood on was so small it could probably fit in hand luggage. It just didn’t look flash at all to me.
Some of it I enjoyed but a lot of it was just, meh.
(I did enjoy when they had the cameras on Kat Matthews as Mark was talking to her and she was having none of it. I thought it was about to turn into a full on domestic at one point).
Was the first one - see how the series plays out.
Superleague was pretty well panned early doors but it’s become a bit of a must do for short course guys and well supported probably because all the action is in a small area.
But isn’t that exactly the problem with non-drafting triathlon - fundamentally it’s just not very exciting
From AB, looked a bit heat related, but if he’s been doing a lot of training in Yorkshire it ain’t going to prepare him for that.
Actually felt really good on swim, bike and first bit of run. Then just got way too hot, it was absolutely brutal - pleased to hold on for 5th all things considered.
Good result for Ditlev, anyone is going to be happy against that field. And Long must be over the moon.
