Just for info, Paula Findlay is racing the individual time trial at the Canadian TT champs this afternoon/evening UK time. Her bike got delayed big time in transit and I think she only picked it up yesterday. After the TT today (she won it in 2022 and 2023) she’s off to Mont-Tremblant for the 70.3 on Sunday. Busy busy busy.
Mt Tremblant 70.3 live feed if anyone interested.
You have to love the lion !
…and good to see Paula tick off the womens win - after winning the Canadian TT champs on Friday.
Interesting from Roth.
Wonder if he’ll soft pedal the bike the moment he feels he can’t win the whole race?
So he’s incentivised to gently commute to T2, have a nice rest, perhaps a brief massage, then hit the marathon hard as possible…
I suspect there’s a whole bunch of elite marathoners who could possibly do that if they didn’t drown in the swim ![]()
ride 8 hours at 50-60W, have a meal and a couple of hours kip in T2, then blast out a hard training run & still finish before the cut-off
Absolutely. But this offer is only open to him.
I’m assuming (surely!) that they’ve put a clause in that states he’s still got to be within x% of the winner or within y% of his expected bike time (based on previous races etc).
maybe the leg fatigue from even an “easy” 112 bike ride would make it a challenge for Kipchoge etc?
Guess there’s a reason why noone has done it ![]()
I’m sure they did try something like that once, got some Kenyans who were marathon runners, taught them to swim and bike but their runs were massively slow due to the bike fatigue.
The other side of the coin was a crazy fast cyclist ( amateur ) who wanted to doss the swim ( scraping cut offs) record the fastest ever Ironman bike split then either stop or jog/ walk the run.
He just couldn’t get into open water swimming, so never tried.
Joe Skipper has a name.
Jan Sibbersen.

Possibly a faster cyclist ( on a modern tt bike) ?
Joe is a much better swimmer and runner than this guy
Just caught up the stream on YouTube. A good race to win for Lionel, excellent battle for second between Marquad and Kanute if you’re thinking of watching.
I love the vastly different running styles of the top three.
Coldwell and Leamouth confirmed for T100 in London.
Interesting to see how they go, and if it’s the end of their short course careers (presume some post Olympic selection).
Abi Bedwell in third on the start of the Bike at Roth, don’t know her. Thought Lucy was racing.
Tom Bishop in tenth for the men.
Edit
Lange out with a rib injury after the swim - dammit.
Edit 2
77kk Ditlev already has a 4m22s lead, I’m calling it for Ditlev.
I’d also say Haug leading the women is almost a done deal except for the pro men holding her up and interfering with her race - could allow Laura and the others to catch up,
2h34 run for Ditlev
…2h38 run for Haug
How did the quest for the first 2:29 go?
Mexican guy bailed a week or so ago and Lange pulled out after the swim with some rib injury.
