Yeah, those with high Yo-Yos but low overall draft time shows they’re trying to ride right on 12.0m, inevitably hitting 11.9 and then backing back out.
Not passing means it ‘should’ be a penalty… But surely that’s not the most low hanging fruit in reducing drafting compared to those who clearly spending minutes in zone like Luis etc. I’d rather see them go after those with high overall times (say over 3 minutes).
Can someone run this through AI so we have a damning set of evidence condemning popular triathletes, podcast format in the style of Oprah Winfrey arguing with Jimmy Nail please?
Free will be damned, I love our new AI overlords!
Oprah (measured outrage): “Jimmy, I’m looking at Timo Schaffeld. Twenty-two minutes and twenty-five seconds of illegal drafting. That’s not racing—that’s tailgating. He yo-yoed 126 times like he was auditioning for a bungee jump at Solar Hill!”
Jimmy Nail (bristling): “Well, maybe Timo just needed a bit of help. Wind resistance can knock you back like a pub door in winter. You ever cycled uphill in Bavaria, Oprah?”
Oprah: “Oh I’ve cycled through hypocrisy—and this race is pedaling fast. Henri Schoeman, 11:03 of illegal time. 69 yo-yos. That’s a symphony of back-and-forth drafting. And Justine Mathieux—9:19 illegal, 84 yo-yos. It’s starting to sound more like a dance class than a triathlon.”
Jimmy: “I’m not saying it’s spotless, but surely not everyone was messin’ about?”
Oprah: “And yet, look at Florian Angert—2:12 illegal, mostly behind Jesper Svensson. Or Thomas Bishop—5:29, with 41 yo-yos trailing Finn Grosse-Freese like a shadow. If this were Formula 1, they’d be under investigation before lap two.”
Jimmy (sarcastic): “Next you’ll be sayin’ they’re drafting their race resumes.”
Oprah (direct): “Let’s talk Tristan Olij—13:58 illegal, 60 yo-yos, longest illegal follow at 7:37 a.m. Behind Tomasz Szala. Coincidence? Or choreography?”
Jimmy: “Sounds damning, sure. But where are the penalties?”
Oprah (quiet fury): “That’s the twist, Jimmy. No slot-ins. No overt penalties. Just a report and silence. The podium may look clean—but the data speaks louder than medals.”
Supertri Toronto now on - glad to see this exciting racing back on.

Do all Aussies say “d’boo” instead of “day-bue” or just this guy?
Beaugrand blew like an Autumn storm…
She seemed like she had it in the bag until the short chute!
I didn’t think so, way too fast a first 1km, totally crazy… it wasn’t only the short chute as she came third, second who was? Periault? didn’t have the chute and also over took her.
Was exciting.
That explains it, she thought it was one lap… lol
The mens first swim was brutal / crazy
It’s like Yee hasn’t been away!
he hasn’t really, still swam 5 days a week and rode his bike; just rode it a bit less.
PRO Men IM Leeds
Good showing from Harry, Kieran and Josh. No surprise with Laidlow - not sure I’ve seen Guerbeur race?
I’d thought Kieran was stronger on the bike - mechanical maybe. Strong enough for second otherwise…
LCB is back!
Not in the T100 though.
Shame, never even shown during the coverage.
Watched most of the women’s T100 and it was a good watch. Knibb, LCB and Waugh were so good. I missed GTB and her puncture woes.
I saw the start of the men’s race until about 20km into the bike. Nice to see Wilde back.
