Looks rather warm… :sun:

And transition bike racking is a bit, errrm, unusual!!!

Well you know, “la tradition d’Embrun”. If any race was going to stick to the French way it’d be this one.

Any idea what happened to Nikki B, she was in fourth towards the end of the bike and not on the results?

O for Fu sake.

Guess thats a dnf then.

Another DNF for Skipper.

Had a problem on the bike then did a bit of a training run by the look of it. Something like 13km at 3:30 min/km

Zack Cooper up to 4th but is going to run out of road to nake the podium (11th in Roth I think.) Think he was a place or two ahead of Skipper in Roth

I saw the lead men on my first loop, obviously their second. They were flying, in fact all the pros were. They kept coming in 3s and 4s, Beals a fair off the pace. Then Skipper came past me well over an hour behind them.

So tubeless are the problem; and I thought tubs were a PITA.

Just for Jan Fredeno’s post - looks like he didn’t understand the UTMB Quali process - has to do it the proper way, no free pass. Credit to him though, he says he will do it properly to qualify for next year

T100 from the French Riviera is on at the moment, women started 7 minutes after the men so two races at once rather than (nearly) back to back which often happens. This is probably to clear the course for the age group racing taking place this weekend as well.

Tomorrow afternoon at the same venue is WTCS championship race (sprint distance). Hayden Wilde (and I think a couple of others) is apparently doing both races. He might have a tough one as Alex Yee is on tomorrow’s start list as well and he’s running rather well (huge understatement) at the moment.

Looked like a nice venue. I wasn’t inspired by the racing though, women’s was a bit foregone conclusion imo and I didn’t recognise the men’s field.

Didn’t expect the bike route to be so flat in that region.

What were you watching / looking at?

That was a hell of a climb…

I assume you were expecting more? It was only a 70.3

Edit: the mens field was poor, I agree with that.

Yes but that was the only climb, it was pancake before and after? That’s what the visual showed.

I’ll admit I didn’t appreciate the gain of that single climb though.

Maybe my own experience of 70.3 is biased towards hilly; Staffs, Aix, Hever x2, Exmoor. I think.

So. Hauser, Vilaca, Hidalgo. The next gen, or are Yee and Wilde going to reclaim the glory?

I think Yee said he wasn’t going to focus for a year after Paris so has left it to the other lads - similar with Wilde. Time will tell

He’s a trier, that’s for sure! None of this taper bollocks.

there’s whole story here that I have been involved in on the periphery

I’m still not sure if I understand this. I read it about 4 times yesterday.

Actually to be more accurate I do not get what he is saying. Were the shoes illegal or was it just that he wasnt suppose to be wearing them.

If Illegal, should be a DQ, no exceptions. The bollox on socials pissed me off, i.e “he would have won anyway”, and “so what, he’d win bare foot”
Yeah, but thats not the point.

I assume they are legal.
