Pro race chat (Tri)

This.

After his constant needle before the PTO championships, calling out the European team, it was brilliant to see him truest humbled.

Has anyone watched the Joe Skipper mockery series for St George? Saw it referenced on ST but haven’t watched

I’ve seen a couple.

Probably a bit marmite.

I think it’s good that you have pro triathletes not taking them selves too seriously but there’s a fine line with the humour. It does come across a bit ‘lad’ at times

And Skipper isn’t in the states so it’s just Tom

Yeah that’s what i thought.

Maybe when i was in my early 20s i’d have liked it a bit more. But i’m a bit past that now. But as you say, it’s nice to see a lighter, non-PR plannned touch to proceedings.

I’ve quite like it - get to hear from some pros that you don’t normally hear/see much from. In fact the amount of ‘content’ being generated on that channel, the LIONs, and instagram is really good - lots of little tidbits in there. Even Tim Don’s reports on Insta about the course and conditions have been pretty interesting - given the course is a bit of unknown to the more casual tri fan!

More on KB’s bike

literally just read that. what a fugly bike!

It’s horrible :pensive:

Not a fan of that new Felt that Ryf and Currie are riding either.

Getting really psyched for this race though. As someone above said, Tim Don is putting some interesting stuff out. And I saw that Captain @chickenboy met him as well.

With course and very long list of omissions, will there be that much of a front lead pack from the swim? Seems like might not be that many people going up the road with AB on a course that will favour true bike-runners too?
Might be different dynamics to typical if people like Cam catch early.

I like it, makes me laugh a lot.

Asking the residents about Ironman days before the WC should keep tri folks feet on the ground (!)

So…Frodo isn’t racing, Gomez isn’t. Lange. Tim O’Donnell. Skipper. Iden and Blue have a “cold”

LCB is also out.

I know it’s about getting to the starting line “fit”
But the way they’re treating this race is different to how they’d treat Kona (pre-Covid, they’d fly there if they had serious D&V and decide if they were racing at 2am)

There are also a few other races on the same day, which waters both those races and this one down (from a viewing/focus perspective)

So, for me?

  1. AB
  2. mcnamee
  3. some random like Florian Angert

LIONel will blow. Walk it in for the sponsors. Again.

Women?

  1. Haug
  2. Matthews
  3. Moenche

Thanks.

Excellent amount of gaffa tape on that bike :clap:t3::joy:

Like no other pros at St. George, Blummenfelt will attach his cycling computer head with a copious amount of electrical tape

Frodo - fair one
Gomez - still unproven at IM at this level, hasn’t been in the mix
Lange - unsure of how he is the last few years
Skipper - Fair one
ToD - he’s not featuring anyway
Norwegians - i’m sure plenty of people have a cold going into Kona

LCB - big loss
Philip - big loss

Kyle Smith seems to be getting a few nods as the wildcard. Haven’t seen how DM has been going. He’s very good at being under the radar.

Agree with your women’s podium.

Yeah, I expect some bits of that bike will be left out on the course

Totally agree.
I’m pretty sure most people on here feel like they have one in race week (I certainly did last year)
But it’s odd that they make “news” out of it.

Hopefully not one of the shifters :see_no_evil::face_with_peeking_eye:

  1. AB
  2. Kienle
  3. Currie
**Roughie - Hoffman to back up and pressure late in run

Womens

  1. Haug
  2. Ryf
  3. Moenche
***Larralde to run them all down as they over bike trying to put Haug under pressure and she tries to stay with them.

***I was going to go with the you can’t in Kona unless top 4 previous but broke that for Ali as I think his Kona 19 race was 1 stupid but 2. still a huge learning

*** I couldn’t bring myself to join the Norwegian band wagon  this course does look ideal for Iden.

Are they allowing discs as they’re not in Kona and the expected winds?
