Quality Slowtwitch/IMJ Threads

It’s what RR are planning for the future that I’m privy to and can’t discuss.

Fitting them with automatic stun guns to enforce penalties ?

Yes RR have been used at ~ 4x NZ races including IMNZ, and have been used at a few Aus events as well this year.
There were talks about having it feed back to ipads to show when they were activated so motos could target, as well as discussions about whether penalties could be issued solely from RR data without human visual (was less keen last I heard).

Having worked with RR none of those would work as there are occasions where RR will trigger into amber or red just solely due to someone passing. There is a time limit for the pass so as long as the pass is made and the passed rider drops out of the draft zone then nothing should be done. Alerting motos/TOs to a red will be useless - by the time they have caught up there will be no evidence (horse and stable door scenario). Finally, under current rules penalties have to be issued by a moto TO - so rules would need modifying for a penalty with no visual and would be a contentious issue.

If anyone had any doubt that ST was toxic.

“We’ve been down this bullshit path way too often. The day that athletes were afforded the benefit of the doubt has long since passed. This isn’t in a court room and they are no longer entitled to be regarded as innocent before being proved guilty.”

Quality bit of advice to a novice on a swim page I read today
“Start slowly and build speed. If you go out too hard and fast at the start the aerobic and anaerobic tire you out very quickly.”

Why have you never come out with anything that good? Glad it doesn’t apply to the bike and run

“Would you do as I am considering? I would like to take testosterone to dominate all of the Strava segments in my area.”

Must be a troll

There is so much funny in that OP.

I love people who think if they just took some magic potion they be champions. Well, when they’re not people I know that is. The guy has low testosterone, thinks he’ll win everything if he had normal testosterone….guess what? He wont.

If he’s a guy, you just Self ID as female and do it (pretty) easily.

You know that isn’t true and that it’s offensive to the transgender community, so why post it?

Sorry, it’s far from untrue, many males who are not transgender, who completely ID as male in all other situations, are ID’ing as female for strava “wins”, I do not in any way see how it’s offensive to anyone in the trans community, they tend to support actual fairness.

You’ve still got to at least be half decent to beat the female Strava times around here on the climbs. Sure there’s a fair few guys but the leading women is still like typically about 30th overall out of about 5,000 including the guys.

If you are some Slowtwitch chump, a bit of testosterone isn’t going to get you the women’s top times on the climbs.

If you are already a great athlete then sure but if you feel any victory from self IDing and taking a Strava segment then you are a bit pathetic

I’d have thought ebikes were a greater threat to open-ness in Segment results these days?

When I used to GAF, you’d routinely see a run CR that was clearly done by someone on a bike; often females.

Jim has simply reported what some people are doing. It’s offensive to the cis female population competing in sports; we know that.

In the old days of Transitions, there was a ‘controversial guy’ we called Jabbs. He was pretty well known in triathlete circles back in the day and represented Oz at the Comm Games. (tri was a ‘display sport’ or whatever the term was). He was pretty handy on a track bike as well.

He’d go on rants that would make Toby blush but every now and then he’d come out with a gem. I remember him saying that:

‘Triathletes these days are just serious insects racing for plastic trinkets that mean nuffink’

Something like that anyway. :joy:
I miss Jabbs
