TBF I am doing similar. One of my sisters is over from Oz and came to stay with us last weekend. Other that having a couple of glasses of wine with her I am drinking in January and probably beyond.

I don’t know how anyone could describe those IM backpacks as high quality. In my experience they tend to be badly made tat, which is why you need a new one every year

It’s pretty variable IMO.

I liked the 2016 UK one but it got stolen when my wife left her car unlocked. 2017 I can’t recall exactly but wasn’t as good.

2018 had a bunch of crap one armed things for the 70.3s even my kids wouldnt use.

2019 were good bags - I still have two although I never felt the helmet bands were worth using.

Portugal 22 wasn’t great quality but has a lower section for wet stuff and a chest strap - I use this for running to work and some pool sessions.

In 2023 the Frankfurt bag looked great but the drawstring ripped on the first day - it’s still ripped so the bag doesn’t close properly.

Best bag is the ‘21 Barca massive, quality item, can get a wet suit in, has a laptop slip and outside drawstring - very useful kit bag! You’d never run with it though, it’s huge.

I still have my IMCH 2005 bag - still the best quality of the bags I have collected. It’s a bit grubby now (it’s orange) but still in good nick.

IMCH 2005 - fuck me - where has the last 20 years gone??

Do you guys do anything to maintain the zips? Mine always get clagged up - I’ve read olive oil can sort it

IMCH 2009 for me - still going strong and gets used 3/4 times a week

Not for IM bags, mine all sit in a cupboard, but I use Gearaid zipper lubricant on outdoor kit.

Any bag zips I’ve had stick have always been fixed with a very light smear of teflon dry chain lube.

They’ve always been profit-centric, very much US culture way of seeing the world. Good luck to them.

If it works then good luck but it will get them a couple months hosting fees at best, and how much will it cost to produce a quarterly magazine and post it out!
I did look into how we could self fund on here but bottom line; it always came back to getting the begging tin out. There’s no money in minor online journalism. Ad revenues aren’t big enough, even if we had the late noughties levels of engagement, it still wouldn’t cover even a months costs; and with ad blockers that becomes a lot worse. For Google Ads (ie what you get on you tube) they cant skip the ad when you get the option; it needs watching in full to count as an engagement. We could get a sponsorship like a bike firm; ie planet X of the old days, but seriously what more than maybe a 10% discount can they offer these days! They don’t even supply pros with bikes unless they have big social followings.
The people that “bought” ST have been mugged off by Empfield no doubt and thought “this time next year rodders we’ll be millionaires”
