Can you imagine the sandbagging that must go on at level 4 :flushed:

Take your point but two rest days p/w isn’t necessarily a bad thing. My old coach has been to Kona about 25 times, wins his AG at other IMs but nearly an hour and always had two rest days.

I know, apples and oranges

I think none of the people on IMJ are real. (I’ve never visited the site, not on FB). I reckon it’s a huge troll to stress you lot out. :joy:

These people aren’t real , they can’t be real

Yeah, 2 is fine.
But 50/80 = 5/8 = 4.375 days, so 2/3 days per week…which is tantamount to exercising every other day.

Most of them will be a “one and done”, so gotta take that into account.

The one who told me “I know a lot about eff all” has done both Tenby and IMUK in 13 hours (1:15/6:45/4:45), so he’s okay. Just needs to learn how to cycle slower/run more.

They ask for advice, give zero background, you ask for some background, then give a suggestion (defer, you dimwit!) which they don’t like.
Or, they’re posting to a “public” group which their friends are also a member of and know background info you don’t, then castrate you…

“…you don’t know what I’ve been through, pal, the power of the mind is a strong thing…”

…and I’m sure it is, pal. For things like mental health and well-being. Even positive thoughts about career and life. But it’s not going to help you finish an IM if you’ve not done the training :see_no_evil::rofl:

If you’ve actually done the training, then I totally agree having a strong mind and drawing energy from the crowd and event is a brilliant thing.

But if you’ve only ran 8 miles in 18 months and haven’t learned how to swim yet, then you can use “positive vibes” all you want, it ain’t gonna stop you drowning.

It’s alright he’s defo got this.

He’s run previous half and full marathons.

He’s going to draw on all that crowd support and bring home the bacon

Surely you have to be plant based these days? Bring home the tempeh?

This is making me want to re-join but then I’ve not done an IM so couldn’t possibly contribute meaningfully. That’s the correct approach right?

EXACTLY THIS!!!
Just get signed up to Instagram, search for “inspo” then regurgitate that crap ad Infinitum.

That does sound pretty bad. Not sure my 14.28 at Wales would cut the mustard.

It’s strange how some sites get under your skin. For me it’s The Running Channel. There are two really fast runners on there and two hobby joggers but one of the HJs is the content owner.

She’s annoying AF, crows endlessly about some very mediocre achievements, lectures anyone on how to do things ‘right’. She’s stacked on a load of weight in lockdown (yes, I’m aware of the irony of me typing that ).
The latest is that she’s lost her mojo because of lockdown. FMD, she’s single with no kids and a secure job. Have some kids, home school them and worry paying the mortgage and keeping your fitness up, then you’ll have something to cry about.

Anyway, she’s going to be at Endure24 and is targeting 100miles, so that will be interesting and also trying to BQ.

I don’t know why she she winds me up and I don’t know why I can’t look away either

I visit Facebook so infrequently. It doesn’t really wind me up. I’m just there for the comments

Same with me, I felt out of my depth :joy:

I thought it was bringing home the milk?

Or was that just the Indy 500?

If it’s almond milk then yeah

Jaysus. They can’t all be trolls then…right? :face_with_monocle:

ST has definitely eaten itself, I’m certain the majority of annoying posters are ironic trolls - or at least they think they are. Actually, most of my posts there is trolling so…not so much a conclusion as a confession then.
