Quality Slowtwitch/IMJ Threads

Fucking hell, I made that mistake a few days ago.

This is a problem across all walks of life it seems to me.

I spend my days wrestling with people who are trying to make simple issues very hard to understand.

But unless you reinvent the wheel, you don’t get paid.

You must mean the circular rotational conservation of momentum of device I have in alpha production for next spring, right?

Winner winner, chicken dinner. I’m all for encouragement but at some point, you, you know, have to train!

Certified swim snobs need not reply

Oh my.

The OP has history on this subject too.

Otherwise known as people that can physically swim.

Bloody hell!!!
3:00/100m???
Is he actually taking the Michael???

“Those purists who believe everyone should be professionally certified on the swim need not respond to this thread.”

That’s a damn good idea!
Like cycling categories.
You have to do a pool based 400 to do a 750 OW sprint, then a 1.5/1.9 OW race before an IM.

Or just do an OW event (race) and use that as a cert?

Or just don’t cry about the swim bit of a tri if you can’t swim?!

I’ve got shit hand eye coordination, so I don’t play golf or tennis or anything else that requires it. It’s not hard. I don’t ask them to make the holes bigger or the net lower!

Has been suggested that should have to do some form of qualifier swim for ironman, as so many people turn up having never swam OW before raceday.
Concept of a mandatory half before IM wouldn’t be such a bad idea, but if meant staying with IM Corp then it’s just another way for them to monopolise

How dare you fail to encourage people to play golf or tennis…for shame!

If you were going to do anything you’d make the pre-race swim mandatory and just execute anyone who is obviously going to die on race day before they take anyone with them.

But this thread is about the OP being a totally shit swimmer.

Edit: Dammit, they’ve hooked me in, I couldn’t hold back.

Shit that was quite a plot twist!!!

This, though admittedly just an article referenced on Slowtwitch and not one of the often standard slowtwit discussions… just made me laugh. God bless the USA!

Edit - can’t yet post links, but there’s an article linked in a ST post that is titled (the article, not the post): "Former Vernon council candidate suing city over fast swimmers using the slow lane"

:joy:

First time I’ve ever been called fast in the pool.

Yeh I saw that one and he’s got roundly slagged off. I must be a miserable git as I agreed with most of it
