You got a mountain bike @Poet?
What’s more festive than snow at christmas, oh that’s right riding 500 (km’s I guess?)
We started with a hard frost, then it rained, the we had sleet, now it’s raining again but it’s effin cold.
Jeeeeezus, you even coordinate your bike to the meteorological conditions.
Get a life.
My summer bike is orange and grey.
Like the sun. And clouds.
24.6kmh today for 93km
Spent an hour of it at 20kmh with one foot clipped out for balance
Nice
How’s everyone getting on? I’ve done 323K apparently, barely an Ironman to go
Two short days coming for me.
Big day Wednesday planned then outside for a couple of hours on Thursday
Wednesday will be short for me, I’ve got a massage and osteo appointment, not the greatest of planning
But, hopefully still do 30k+ that day.
I’ve got just under 100km to complete. Hoping to get out tomorrow & do a good chunk, but there’s a snow & ice weather warning out for most of the day so no promises.
I started with a random, unplanned Boxing Day ride.
As a mate wanted a spin and my wife wanted me out of the way
So banked an “early” flat 40km there.
Froze my ass off yesterday with a flat 101km.
Did another flat 93km today in the snow.
Got 106km planned tomorrow on a known, flat route, out to Bunbury / Beeston.
If it’s snow and ice, that’ll take close to five hours
I’ve tried to not do the same road (bar the first and last 5km) twice, if so, then alternated the direction.
I’m unsure about 30th and 31st, as I was going to do some hills, but if it’s icy and wet, I’d rather not.
But I’ve exhausted my flat outdoor routes now 🤷🏼
Little colder than normal in the turbo room today for me
About to join the Evo Vamos ride which should give a good workout for 70km and pad it out with warm up/down.
I am signed up on Strava, but I work like a dog at this time of year so not a hope of hitting the 500km. However I do want to try and get to 300km, which would be alright given the circumstances. I will then rename it Hewligan’s Hogmanay 300.
82km more done to take me to a virtual 316km
Couple of lower intensity days coming on I reckon and TTT up the Alpe NYE to round it off.
No comparison to you crazies braving the outdoors but a good little motivation at this time of year to burn off the Christmas excesses!
That’s a world away from here.
Just spent an hour chatting to a mate. Cold, dry empty roads!
Nutter!!!
(Edit: and on those tyres? Maybe I would do that on my WTB Resolutes but on skinnies … you are either hardcore or insane)
I opted for a lie in, as the weather was meant to be for freezing rain but it’s dry. Will run later.
