Rapha Festive 500

I was on my was home after 15km.
Tyre popped off and split at the rim.
So it was 5km down the bypass on a flat rim.
Which felt fine in the snow.

That’s 20-22km for the day :rofl::see_no_evil::sob::face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Snowing here now!

:sob::sob::sob:
Crying over my split tyre here.

Any reason why it split?

Hit a pothole that was covered in snow :rofl::cloud_with_snow::see_no_evil:

Oh dear. Was the tyre new?

I had hoped to actually get outside today but woken up to ice on the roads where it’s sleeted on top of frost and it doesn’t look very safe. Main roads will be better but it’s also raining now.

Looks like it’s the turbo again :frowning:

There’s about 8cm snow on top of the exposed bits of the moors apparently!

Well, new wheel set in the summer, so relatively yes.

I’ve a spare set of tubeless, but they’re the condom thin Corsa ones.

I finally managed to wrestle it off, put a tube and boot in and wrestle it back on.

Got 240km to go.

I’m not resorting to indoors either

Good stuff, get it going mate but don’t risk yourself for an arbitrary goal. Where we get our fashion advice from? :grin:

Decent weather for an outdoor ride here. A few degrees above freezing all night and morning so no risk of ice. Wet roads though and a cold, biting north westerly wind. The false flat straight into the headwind was and wasn’t great fun!

Glad I got out!

Well done. What’s the prize?

Boom, well done :+1:

I’m closing in, another 30k done. Might join the F500 @4pm which should take me to ~420.

No idea, but if it’s any of that Rapha shit I’ll take it to the charity shop.

There’s as much chance seeing me parading their stuff as seeing me on Zwift :joy::rofl::joy:

I don’t find Rapha stuff shit and I don’t get the circle jerk Rapha hate on here. They are far far from the priciest brand and their stuff really lasts ( I still have jerseys from the Imperial Club era).

Some of their stuff has questionable quality for the price but it’s rare IME. I’ve had one sticky zip and one jersey that had pilling quite badly but that’s all.

I don’t think their stuff is the best but it rarely deserves the hate that the mob give it on here.

I’m not Poet but I love my Rapha kit, it’s generally superb quality, not cheap but I’ve had cheaper stuff which didn’t last long.

I also like their casual ranges of shorts and T-shirt’s etc

It may not be everyone on here, it may just be me…& also @FatPom I may be :fishing_pole_and_fish:

Definitely not just you. I do agree with the criticism on their marketing approach, it is, or was a bit of a cliche.

Some of their lines are just plain crazy but having having said that, IMO their basic ranges of jerseys and bibs (I like the Lightweight rather than Classic), it’s hard to go far wrong.

My long sleeved Club jersey has been been my ‘go to’ top in winter for years and years.

Very pleasurable hour out this morning and a little roll around Bushy Park with my boy takes me over 300kms

PRL full tomorrow then my annual NYE Box Hill ride should take me comfortably over the line.

Well done @Doonhamer - in five rides too. Hat is doffed
