Rapha Festive 500

Got out for another ride this afternoon.
Then made a mess of my brevet card :sob::sob::sob:

What time you riding PRL tomorrow Adam?

It’s going to be a late one…

AHDR are doing a group ride at 18:50. Officially the ride will end after an hour which I will guess will only be a couple of laps. Then a group will stay on until we get the route badge!

At least you got one.

I’ve had to make do with a screenshot!

I finished mine today - 3 outdoor rides totalling 315km and 3 indoor rides totalling 185km😎

The weather’s actually been pretty good here this year. I could easily have done the whole thing outdoors, but the turbo is a bit more convenient sometimes.

There’s no way that Mrs W would have let me out of the house with my bike if there’s been snow on the roads like in Poet’s photos, but then if there’s snow on the roads where we are in central London it’d be like Narnia by the time I got past Kingston and into the “countryside “

I’m refusing to allow Zwift to creep into it.
This is my first actual attempt.
And I can only do it due to Covid, as we’d usually be in the pub :see_no_evil:
Getting up at 0610 to be out by 0730-0745 is “super festive”, but then I’m back by 1130 and ready by midday :+1:t3:

January 2010.
Today was nothing in comparison.

40k from an Evo group ride (hard work on tired legs) and 20k spin down to give me 60k for today.

v375k done.

Well done to those of you braving the weather. Some great pics.

Have managed to lose quite a bit of weight over last 6 months (was 66kg pre Xmas eating, and low 80kg around Easter) and my ability to tolerate the cold has really suffered.

Today’s route was a bit boring with drizzle, rain & sleet so I didn’t feel much like stopping, but I got a snap of the Duke of Lancaster early into it.

I eat and am fully awake when I leave the house.

I got that, I just am wondering what you’re doing for 95 minutes, but now I realise you’re eating, it takes a long time to marinade the eggs in rose petals before you can poach 'em.

Yeah.

Seem to remember you taking the kids about how long it took me to get to the pool after waking

When I was working and commuting, everything was a rush to fit in.

Now?
It’s just nice to be leisurely and take my time.
I just feel much more relaxed and less rushed.

What do I do in 95 minutes?

Open the blinds/curtains and wipe any condensation away.
Put the underfloor heating on.
Take a poo.
Put my Moka coffee on.
Post on TriTalk.
Get my lights, helmet, hat and gloves.
Sort out bike nutrition.
Make my breakfast and eat it.
Read BBC News.
Have another poo.
Brush teeth, have a wash.
Change into cycling kit.
Get my bike out.
Set it up.
Leave.

I wouldn’t bother justifying yourself mate, we all have our routines. I mix mine up a bit, especially running. Sometimes it’s a ‘toast or porridge’ in plenty of time morning, usually it’s up and out the door in 10mins.

Largely depends on who I am meeting (rarely anybody), how far I’m going and what my mood is.

I like being fished and rising to the bait, though

Sneaked a short ride in before my massage this morning. 57K to go, probably won’t get back on today though.

Can anyone see the leaderboard? I’ve seen it in years gone by but it doesn’t seem to be there. Like to see the loonies that have done 1000’s of K’s!
