School me on Zwift

Someone previously suggested pedalling backwards.
I’ve tried it and definitely seem to get a better response at tucking.

I did try that but it didn’t seem to work. Think this may have done it though. Not getting any rogue watts now on the smartphone app, will try it on Zwift later. Hopefully if works it will be useful down that big hill at Innsbruck

Edit: yay, it works

So computer manages 8 FPS…lol

Ooh - 18 (cant really complain, work laptop)

24avg @ 1440 ultra settings.

I am surprised its that demanding. My laptop can run Fortnite at over 100 fps on Ultra settings so no idea why I’m getting 24 on this.

The graphics in Zwift arent great either.

I’ve seen a lot of devs commenting on how badly its coded….

I’ve never seen the code, but that doesn’t surprise me one bit. It’s buggy AF and the UX is rubbish.

Apparently if I add an 1050ti low profile card to my machine it could run at 1440 at 60fps and be fine other than Makuri which is very cpu limited. I’ll keep an eye out fit a decent priced one but they’re currently scarce.

You’ve got more chance of being able to take a shit in the queen’s handbag than finding a GPU outside of a fully built rig.

Semi conductor shortage and cryotocurrency bots buying up what there is instantly.

Well you can buy a low profile 1050 Ti on amazon delivery tomorrow, problem is that it’s 305 quid, which is insane of course it was well under 150 2 years ago.

300 quid for that? Jesus H Christ.

at the very top end, I run 7th gen i7 with 1050ti and Makuri and NY can be as low as 5. Even other worlds can drop to below 20 if its a busy day (on the desert). Zwifts game engine holds it back massively. shit 1990s graphics needing a NASA supercomputer to get above 60 and machines getting 100 on AAA titles struggling to get 10 in Makuri.

I havent tried Makuri yet, be interesting to see. The only game mine struggles with is Microsoft Flight Sim. That game you really do need a super computer to run. They ran a competition to win this ultra high end gaming rig and even that wasnt powerful enough to run the sim in Ultra mode

Maryka uses a 2012 X230 laptop with integrated graphics, I’m amazed it runs, it must be just weirdly unoptimised for the graphics cards.

(The turbo room has an i5 1050ti and an i7 RTX 2060 with zwift installed in it so it’s not as if there aren’t options)

Can anyone help me out here?

Zwift needs updating on the Apple TV

I click update and get this message

Then I click ok and get this:

And it doesn’t do anything.

What am I doing wrong? I don’t use any other apple gadgets so am not familiar with the app store.

At the moment the only way I seen able to update zwift is uninstall then load again

Ooh! I better go update mine and see what happens…

…and also close the basement windows, as I don’t fancy a turbo in 0°

New GPU installed

Gone from 8fps to averaging nearly 50fps for a total spend on £50. Might have some settings to play to improve it more but it looks so much better now.

So you had a dedicated Graphics card then? As I understand it, if it’s integrated (like mine), you cannot upgrade. Jim mentioned a card slot for external, but my 2012 Pavilion dv6 doesn’t have one by the looks of it. It has an Intel 3000 series card, which will be unsupported imminently. I’m not interested in a desktop build, as it will go in/out the garage…and I’m not a PC geek.

Yes, I had a discrete graphics card already, unplugged old one stuck new one in. Booted up, updated drivers and away we go. You can put a GPU card in a PC with integrated graphics, you just need space and power. My new card didn’t even need separate power, it just pulls from the motherboard. More powerful cards need a power feed from the PSU.

Can you open up the machine and send a photo and/or give more details on the model? DV6 relates to quite a few different machines including laptops.

You can buy old office machines off ebay for about £30-£40 and put a GPU and make it a decent Zwift machine.

I was listening to the Zwiftcast podcast yesterday and there seems to be some talk about Zwift and TrainerRoad collaborating. I assume TR beefing up Zwift’s training sessions. I really enjoy Zwift but I do miss the structure of the TR interval sessions and plans. It’ll be interesting to see if it comes off
