Strength training

The one leaning over me also takes ages to clap when I think I have made some kind of physical performance breakthrough. Probably 'cos he is carrying a sickle and is looking for somewhere safe to put it down first.

Squats are feeling weak as hell since TCR, but managed 3 x 2 at 70kg bench and a single 72.5kg after, could probably squeeze a bit more, almost bodyweight. I think thats a PB for me.

Think I tweaked a trap on Sunday doing deadlifts.
Set a new PB at 120kg (only been doing them a few weeks) but left trap was aching later on Sunday evening and into Monday morning.
Took some ibuprofen on Monday and it had pretty much gone by yesterday so went to the gym and did my usual Push set (Chest, Shoulders, Triceps) and now it’s back with a vengeance.
Don’t want to stop completely so think I’ll go today (Pull - Back, Rear Delts, Biceps) but start each exercise light and see how it feels before putting anything heavy on; and definitely no shrugs.

When I was doing 5x5 regularly last year I was upto 60kg for 5 with a body weight around 125kg.

Wouldnt be able to get near that currently.

I can barely do a pressup…

It’s taken a few years for me to choose 3x5 over 5x5, so far I reckon it’s just as good (as a middle aged triathlete) and psychologically if not physiologically easier. I still feel it the next day, but it’s not interfering with my SBR so far at ā€œmoderately heavyā€ where 5x5 did.

Your 70 kg?
If so that’s good, I’d hope to get near that ?!

ā€œare you questioning something Gary?ā€

come back in 10 years and tell us how that’s going

I once carried #1 and #2 all the way from Durdle Door beach to the car park at the top. One in each arm. That’s quite a lot of steps. Think they were aged 1 and 3 mind, so probably weighed about 20kg combined.

every time we go back they take the mic and ask for a carry, except they are now both in 20s and probably have a combined weight of 130kg

Fluctuate between 69 ‐ 71. On a Thursday session we finish with 100 incline bench presses at 30kg, quick as possible in as few a sets as possible. Its good fun and very tempting to smash out a big number on the 1st set but there are consequences :upside_down_face:

I carried my 15yo old over my shoulder to the beach :beach_umbrella:

I did try to bench press the two girls following this discussion. I could do them one at a time. The eldest was actually much easier as she has better core strength.

But when I tried the two of them at the same time the little one couldn’t keep her balance on top of the big one when I started to lift them.

:joy:

We all know spina is a decent athlete and in no way connected to ā€œ TRT markā€

This is just a bit of fun and all done on trust.

A ā€œ machine ā€œ like yourself should be looking at 40+ reps for sure ?!

I think we’re talking cross-purposes here.

I made a very rare visit to IMJ, and the first post I saw was you understandably questioning that guy’s power numbers. He seemed overly thin skinned in his response. He looks to be a journeyman pro. Hence my quote of his comment to you!

Right !
That was my first post on there for ages.
I wasn’t questioning his numbers to be honest it just seemed a very small difference between 10 and 60 min power

He’s now replied ( not to me, he ghosted me!) saying the real test is what you can hold at 100 bpm.
Which does come across as utter bollix as who rides there bike at 100 bpm to test themselves I know funkster and hillwall ( both very powerful cyclists ) have hrā€s that lol like typos but most of us that test is a non starter.

You edited my post …
I never knew that ?
