Is that not the case with all IM events. It’s very hard to resist the lure of merch until the novelty wears off. As a rule if I do buy something I don’t wear it until I’ve completed the event. Such presumptuousness to wear before!

Sorry, but this is bollocks justification, there’s no reason to “keep the entry fee down” by justifying doubling the number of journeys, it externalises the cost of all the unecessary journeys on the whole of society, people who aren’t running should not be subsidising the runners.

I agree I would prefer an option to pay more and have my number sent to me, the less time I have to spend travelling across London the better.

No - I don’t think so… 
To add some context, I think the original “denim” shorts were recovered from a skip.
I don’t know whether he’s still using those original shorts, but denim shorts have been TC’s uniform for races since.
