The 2020 weigh-in thread

I didn’t eat after my run last night, just went to bed. Then puposefully didn’t eat a larger than usual breakfast to try to start the slow shift of weight off the old spare tyre.

Did a decent run just now, but couldn’t be arsed with making lunch and i drive past Ronald on my way back home. You know the rest of the story!! haha

180.2lbs for me…after a 4,100ft ride :frowning:

To be fair, 1.24km isn’t that far

Dry January has been pretty easy, but had no noticeable benefits.

I think Sugar-Free Febru-ar-y is on the cards.

I just have one tin of chocolate biscuits to finish off and a Christmas pudding (feeds six) to finish off before Feb 1st. I sense this will be much harder to maintain for a month.

How will you define sugar our of interest?

Obviously there’s stuff like honey, fruit etc.

Or do you mean more loosely stuff like chocolate, biscuits, cakes etc etc

My wife suggested a Feb without chocolate, biscuits or cake; I told her where to stick it! (it’s my Birthday next week ffs)

Yup. No sugar in my coffee (already started that), cake, desserts, kids sweets/bars, sweet pastries (I think I’ll allow the occasional plain croissant), full fat coke/lemonade, erm I think that’s it…and of course biscuits.

Biscuits. I love/hate biscuits. I’m so angry that they exist in my kitchen I eat them all just to teach them a lesson. My wife thinks I should learn self control, so she keeps buying them. And I keep eating them all in one sitting.

I know there are many other sources, but I think the above is all negatives where fruit has fibre and vitamins, plus I do actually need enough carbs to train and I’ll keep using gels in my weekly long runs.

If you use oat milk, that’s naturally sweet, so has that benefit…

A sister of one of my friends did it a couple of years ago. Defining the parameters was one of the things she talked about initially in her blog, with the examples you’ve given being on the list for consideration.

I can’t remember now where she ended up. But her experience was it just took a bit of planning to make work, seeing as it’s nearly impossible to buy sugar free food when out and about, so she had to make a lot of pre-prepared meals. From what I understand, she’s stuck with the general approach long term, just with occasional cheat days

Lost 7lbs in 11 days, good grief!

Yeah, she certainly was pretty amazed at how much it changed her. Weight, but also skin, sleep, energy, etc.

She did a charity Himalayan hike at the back end of last year and even started running in the build up to that. I provided the advice on the most appropriate Garmin purchase

These are your downfall! If you can just cut those out for good, you’ll be well on the way. Your teeth will thank you too

I did something similar a few years ago. Once you’ve gone a few days, you just stop craving the junk. The hard thing, as already alluded to, is finding the stuff to substitute it with. Stocking up on kilos of cashew nuts etc! The first time is started eating crap again, i didn’t enjoy it in the slightest … though that lasted a matter of days!!!

Yeah I need stuff I can just shovel in my face in those hangry moments, nuts don’t sate me though. I had some luck with bags of baby spinach, but the main thing is probably to be getting enough veg in with meals.

I’m following a plan and eating six meals a day, smaller portions obviously with loads of eggs, white meat, fish and vegetables basically…with small amounts of good fat from avocados, sweet potato mainly. 4 litres of water a day and am more than full.

Weight is falling off, I’ve actually upped the intake as it was shifting too quickly, especially as I’m injured and not exercising other than some core stuff daily.

This site often doesn’t believe what you say.

A picture paints a thousand honest words.

Anyway it’s not on strava or TP so it never happened…!

Still around 77kg at the gym tonight but I’ve not made any effort to shed some and doing less training.

On the plus side it isn’t increasing, yet…

Good thinking. As an kind of unrelated aside, lots of athletes who are really on it (/obsessed) with weight management will calorie restrict when they’re injured thinking they’re not training and scared of putting on any weight. When actually repairing injury is still high metabolic cost.

Likely not relevant to most of us, but I want to learn about sports medicine and had an interest in female athlete triad/RED-S syndrome; this injury paradox came up there.

And underpants…!

Which I never wear… ever…

However someone posted a very similar picture about a month ago… then realised the scales were virtually a mirror…!?!

Mad panic to find the bin button…!

Obviously I’m huge… but it was a very cold morning…
