The 2020 weigh-in thread

All was going well. Until the weekend. Saturday night at comedy in Kingston, lots of wine before, during, after … getting the uber to drop us off at the chip shop rather than at home, and then Super Bowl last night. +1.1kg this morning #sigh!

I wondered when you’d wake up this morning @stenard knowing the Superbowl was on! when did it finish?

I actually bailed at HT, and then got up earlier to watch the second half. That way I get to skip the HT show (which goes on for ages). The fact I went to bed not that much later than normal (1am) meant the entire cheeseboard my gf got me, the pack of miniature heroes, and the plate of fake chicken nuggets, was really rather unnecessary. Tasty tho!

I’m on the loop weds… if the forecast stays the same.
I’m guessing the bike route would be “ to be announced” on there website if it was 100% changing.
It’s still the same apart from the Golf club bit as
you come out of Bolton.
Cuts out a flat bit and adds a steep short hill and a descent for nutters…!

Two guys I know ( taller/ bigger ) did really well last year by sticking to there plans watts/ hr.

One is a demon descender though… so much time on the downhills if your confident… read mental.

Haven’t seen sub-80Kg on the scales yet, although it shouldn’t be too long!
On the plus side, it seems we have finished all the Xmas chocolate and cake. I note Easter eggs are all over the supermarket shelves, but they are to be ignored.

72.3 kg. Disappointing upward drift in the last month or so, when I really wanted to go the other way. Reboot time, need some discipline and focus.

Don’t know any of those climbs, but the fact they’re respected enough to have names suggests otherwise. IMUK has Sheephouse which is less than 5 minutes and followed by 20-30 minutes of down/flat/fast, the only such section in the course. I can only remember two other long drags of ~5-10km climbing at <5%.
That might be bad memory, but I thought the rest of the course isnt so much “hills” to talk about, more constant bumpiness or low grade stuff. I never thought the course was excessively hilly, remain shocked that its the big obsession with it, road quality was my only issue with course.

As for course changes, I’m sure @Mungo2 was alternating between promising and praying for the same for 2019

Yup. That’s Long Hill, Cat and Fiddle and Pexhill to a T :ok_hand:t4::ok:

I’ll dig some link outs

Yep
First time I went round it I stayed in the big ring
(50x 28)
I thought what all the fuss about.
Then you start looking at your speedo…

We’re quite light so gradients of 2-6% probably don’t hit us quite as hard as some of the bigger guys and girls.

There are two bits of 3-4 miles were your actually going up hill constantly even if it is 2-3%.

Road surface was a lot better on conti 5000”s 23 mm which I used for the first time… cardinal sin but it paid off.

My new tt bike takes 28”s but the base bar is very low for climbing…

The bike beat me up being honest… I hope it stays the same.

Yay, sub 67, 66.9Kgs and looking at a sub-66 in time for the shitfoodandbeerfest end of next week birthday.

Chuffin swollen left knee due to too much decorating (that’s my excuse anyway) and running nice 3 hours over mountains Sunday. Grrrr, good job I have the diet under control with a few cardio days off.

weighed in at Christmas eve last at 94.5kg, been to the gym 26 times in Jan and ran 3 times, didn’t knock beer on the head and if i’m honest I’ve had a few boozy weekends, esp one in Dublin, weighed in yesterday at 95kg.

I never really liked the gym how I do now, feel a fair bit fitter and week one of half marathon training has just started, probably should have done a couple more runs over jan but it begins, I want that sub 2, i’m doing 3 runs a week and 3 gym sessions, swimming is going in at least twice a week as well but making sure that I double up a run and gym session day to get 2 full rest days in a week.

main aim is to cut out/down the booze and lose 5-10kg over the next 3 months.

I’m not much lighter but can definitely feel a change in my clothes. I’m back to my ‘regular hole’ on my belt, rather than the slacker one I’ve been using for the last 8mths or so.
