Probably not muscle. Does stress weigh a lot? :laughing:

Stress weighs nothing…

However
Whiskey
Heroin and Temazepam can lead to huge weight gain over time…

The fig advice might be the answer here?!?

I do know this but I’m very bad at taking my own advice!

I see fluctuations like that, but largely ignore the day to day readings. I just step on the scales, data gets sent to withings, and then I look at the trend line every now and then. That smooths out the daily fluctuations, which can be impacted by a variety of things. What I’ve eaten. What time I last ate before bed. Hydration. When was my last training session. What time I get up in the morning. etc.

I find quite the opposite, the once a week or month might make sense for very overweight people who can rapidly lose weight and aren’t super fit (so water/glycogen etc. stores don’t fluctuate) as removing the day to day variation won’t matter so much. But when we’re talking a few kg’s like many of us here, knowing the variations helps you understand your body more and understand how you react to do different things. When fit and training I could control morning weight by +/- a few kgs just by exercise and food timing - it wasn’t real weight change but how tempted would I be to do it if I was only weighing myself once a month?

plus, it becomes part of a daily routine, so you never ‘forget’ to weigh yourself.

I’ve learnt quite a lot over the last 3 years or so (the time for which I’ve been weighing myself every day) about what foods and exercise affect my weight, and in what timeframes, and how things like hydration can artificially influence the number.

Ony caveat is that regular weighing is a trait of people with eating disorders apparently, so only cautious support for the idea from me.

I’ll add to that;

If you’re not hydrating after training, or not eating properly to aid training and recovery, in order to achieve some arbitrary number on the scales…

…you’re going to get injured real quick. Or fatigued. Or both.

If your tits and belly aren’t wobbling when you walk down the stairs, you’re probably okay :ok_hand:t4:

Haha.

Luckily I’m not really there yet. But if I carry on eating like I am, in ten years I will be.

Up 1kg this morning. The numerous beers with friends, followed by the massive McDonald’s on the way home, isn’t really conducive to my goals…
