Failed to run 14km, it was too hot after dressing enough to not be too cold for the first 30minutes, couldn’t be bothered, so only did 11.8km, I’d already walked 3.6km earlier, and will be walking to Asdas shortly, so still within the “challenge”, but no longer only in running.
Sean’s done well to keep his 496 challenge ticking over while also taking part in the Strathpuffer 24.
- 13km yesterday at 0640 before the '24
- 116km of mountain biking
- Off his bike at 0235 this morning to do his 14km
- Back on his bike for another 36km.
Following his Instagram I’m not sure how much he enjoyed it .
Well, I’ve had @fruit_thief saying he’s not signed a contract about this, yet he’s ran 15km in 28C this morning.
I ran/walked 7.5km in 28F
Also, pretty sure I’ve found photo evidence of him signing a contract
(Bonus points if anyone gets the reference )
haha no contract. Also, it was only 21°C. And zero elevation. And I only have to work 4 hours today. Pretty much born on third base with that combo.
Very impressed with you battling the elements. Is knee fixed?
Yeah, it wasn’t ever really too bad.
Just a little twist, that some stretching seemed to partly solve.
Yeah, yeah, 28C for 28F = -2C, which is what it was today. POETic license
It wasn’t that bad this morning, really nice and crisp, though I do need to make a trip to the pharmacy for the Chris Froome bag later, as the cold really grabs my chest.
Should be 1C for my afternoon jog, then -6C tomorrow morning
it is in fact going to be 28°C when I head off for work on my bike in an hour or so. Heat on a bike = nice though, up to a point (somewhere around 38°C IIRC from last year, then it stops being quite so nice. Got a couple of months yet before need to worry about that though)
Yeah, I was outside that shop in November.
15.26km in -1C at the start, +1C by the finish, but the sun condition change was the first, no sun to full sun was annoying. 120m ascent. 4:54km
And I dialled into a meeting on the run 'cos I was late…
Nice work
I’m building up the run distance slowly.
Not sure I’m ready for >12km in one go yet
Got that in a Heartbeat
How’s the weather, @fruit_thief ?
We’ve woke up to this
I’m going out around lunchtime today to “maximise” rest periods. Like you, up and down a bypass, because it’ll be dry/no snow
Tad breezy today actually, but no sign of snow so far.
Cranked out 16km this morning, didn’t massively enjoy it today tbh & ran out of things to think about pretty quickly. Maybe didn’t help that I chose to run the first 10km along a motorway service road . Scenic it wasn’t.
Anyway, longest run since April 18th 2023
I’m of to Carrefour later to see if I can get some Bluetooth headphones
Good luck in your snowshoes later. Does skiing count towards the day total?
I mean totally go for it if it helps, but personally i think part of the endurance mindset is getting comfortable in your own head. Though i appreciate everyone is different.
For example on my almost 4 hr run the other morning I did that solo in the pitch black. So literally nothing to look at beyond my headtorch. I seem to drift between general ‘thinking about stuff’ to complete ‘tune out’ where i just focus on what i see or hear (mindfulness in a way) to complete ‘tune in’ which is where i put all my thought and concentration into what my body is doing (foot placement, body alignment, breathing etc etc).
It’s definitely something you have to work on though.
Couldn’t be late to the meeting this morning, did 15.1km at 4:40/km at least the sun didn’t come out, so it was just consistently below zero and didn’t overheat too much, but 0.9km down. Still zero problems other than the time to fit it in - but it helps obviously that I’ve been doing 70+km weeks for years…
I think that’s likely the biggest obstacle for a lot of people (who are used to the load of course)
Sweaty ear muffs for 28 degree weather, erm brave.
Until a year or two ago I’ve not listened to music/podcasts on any runs but I now stick my Shokz on for long runs…that still leaves the other runs & outdoor cycles to listen to my own thoughts.
My son had some of those for Xmas. He doesn’t run in them but they did well in all the reviews and he’s really happy with them for the money.
Yeah, I was thinking they’d be a bit hot to run in, especially in the ME
I guess you’ll soon find out how waterproof they are
