Happy birthday Funkin, it’s always a win to survive another year at our age :grinning:

Happy birthday fella.

Happy birthday old boy

Cheers all. I have celebrated this grand day so far by 40 minutes on the turbo and then hoovering the house! Time for a rest now. :joy:

My Vo2max is 39, although I never really stopped training. 20 years ago I used to run 17:10 and now I very much don’t…

Same, I just had a look at Power of 10 & my 5k PB was August '05. I can still remember parts of that race & who I was with.

You must be a late developer! My PBs pre-date Power of 10, I might have a photocopy of the results sheet somewhere…

Yeah it does look like I was late to the party.

I did orienteering & XC at school but it was quite rural where I grew up so track wasn’t really an option.

I then drifted into rugby for 10-ish years, primarily for the socials & beer.

I started running again in my mid-20s & did a bit of everything for several clubs. I’m sure that Po10 is missing quite a bit of early track.

When I was running my 5k pbs they were really only training as my love was short fell races. In a way it’s a shame not to have targeted some good road times to fluff up my palmares but I have some great memories of running on the hills.

Kept getting ads for volunteering to be a ‘healthy subject’ for an Alzheimer’s study. Anyway I took a look at the link in the end, and it turns out I’m not old enough yet. 55-75 for anyone who’s interested.

Where was it, I’m only a few months short depending on when it closes.

I got an invitation through the power for NHS bowel cancer screening. It’s normally offered for people aged 60-74 but they’re gradually extending the age range and I’ve been invited (as I’m 52). After reading the leaflet I won’t be posting any updates on the photos thread when the screening kit arrives in the post. :poop:

I got my free gift around September last year :grimacing: it came back clear :face_exhaling:

Safe to say it’s a career change I don’t fancy :joy:

It’s well worth doing as it nips any potential problems in the bud. I got on it when I passed 60 but after a test just over 3 years ago I was referred for a colonoscopy as there was some blood detected. I had 4 polyps removed (non tumerous) and am now on a 3 yearly colonoscopy cycle and don’t have to do the “shit on a stick” test.

Next colonoscopy set for April. The procedure itself is not too bad - only gets uncomfy when the scope gets close to the small intestine (gas on offer!). The worst is the pre-procedure laxative to clear your bowels out - very unpleasant!!
