The over 50's

Zwift really pushes my MHR on the bike. Chasing ranking points is my motivation to hit my limits. My run MHR was set doing sprint finish while trying to get my 5k time down to sub 18mins

I’m the same.

Slipped over onto my LHS while stupidly running a muddy, off camber path on Sunday, thought I’d got away with a hole my knee.

48hrs on it seems I also damaged my shoulder :man_facepalming: . Painful doing the manual part of my work today but hoping it’ll clear up in a day or so.

Don’t bounce like I used to

Bit of a reprieve for some of us :crossed_fingers:

No need to subscribe…or perhaps you do, I saw it ok initially :man_shrugging: .

I got kicked out this morning :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:
And had to log back in … I thought the previous employer of my wife (well, three back!) had removed access :joy:

Nope. Just had to log back in :tada::partying_face:

Reckon they’ve just kicked the can to labour or the next minority government. Life expectancy has at best flatlined so it’s only a money making scheme for the next generation.

Luckily we’re of the age that we should still get it!

Ridiculous time that though!

Alistair runs for one of the local clubs near me. There are a few guys around here who will place top five in races that are late 50s and 60s. I have to take comfort I might get a V45 placing when they show up

That is just crazy.

Very impressive though, it’s only a number in his case anyway.

As I’d just entered ‘sniper alley’ ie the 50’s where it’s said if anything is going to get you then it’ll get you here - I decided to home test particularly bowel and prostate. Prostate fine, bowel adverse. Gave it a week , tested again, still adverse.

Called Drs, another sample, and then blood test. Call from Doctor - test results ? Nah, can I come in for an HIV test as the lab technician got some of my :poop: in their eye.

Week later I’m in and results are good, no bad stuff, bloods for iron etc all good, however Coeliac tissue test positive so looks like I’m on the way to cutting gluten out of the diet.

Sniper Alley hasn’t got me yet - but I’ll be testing regularly going forward :dart:

Seriously??

Wow, I never heard of that! You’d almost have a publishable case study1 there.

Never heard Sniper’s Alley! Good news the tests are clear even if the lab tech is probably filling out a stack of H&S forms. How on earth did they manage that.

I was actually wondering at what point we might get called for screening anyway but I think it’s after 55 isn’t it?

I’m guessing it was a small blood fingerprick sample? Presumably a bit of a nervous wait with the adverse results. I’ve looked a few of these myself but I’ve seen mixed reports online about false positives, better than a false negative though.

And speaking as someone who spent 18 months working as a Medical Lab Assistant in Slough i also have to ask… HOW?

It was all dealt with in a fume hood, even when the fan broke (:face_vomiting:) we did it in the hood for exactly this kind of reason!

I got mine about a day after my 56th birthday (as did a couple of friends), might vary from authority to authority ? Mine and one friend all clear, the other friend hasn’t got round to it yet (18 months and counting). To me its just one of those things, get it done and as soon as you get it, no point putting it off, just catch it, swab it, post it.
