The over 50's

Yes, mostly. I did Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Ball Buster, lots of time trials as well but I didn’t hang around too long as MrsS came with me.

  This was a few years ago, maybe 2017

TI Ian, RIP died a few years back. He was deeply protective of his brand but a good guy deep down. Swim biff made me laugh as most have the same end game, just slightly different methodologies of how to get there

Charles (lecoutier) was at university of montreal coaching last i see. I spoke a lot offline to him and he inspired some of my coaching practices (which in my usual way investigated, researched, discovered reasons for and adopted) look up his you tube channel, all the old stuff is there (energie solare and swimtrainingday) . I even used his dryland swim waltz as my most inspirational coaching vid and i had half of my HPCP cohort using it with adult improvers.

2 of my favourite tris in the day. 7oaks is now only a 5k run :relieved: and thanks to the closing of the pool is now only a du.

People told me that TI_Ian was nice really but he never showed it and must have lost a lot of business through his aggressive attitude. He was rude, deliberately misconstrued what people wrote and was generally nasty and disrespectful. However horrible it sounds I felt no sadness on hearing of his death.

He seemed to save a lot of his vitriol for Swim Smooth, maybe because he was UK based at the time. I went on one of his two day courses, it was good.

Solar Energy coped with him well from recollection by always giving thorough technical answers to his barbed remarks

SpeedoSwimmer, (Graham) i used to chat to also offline, another swim coach during the biff era. He used to head out to Kenya to teach kids to swim as there was some stat about drownings that was unbelievable. Think his company was SwimTech as @scheds used him (Scheds was another TTer i met at 7oaks)

My medical report is “ easily the worst I’ve seen from a mental health perspective”

Could play int my favour but hard to hear

I’m sure so long in that environment must have an impact on anyone. Keep looking after yourself. Life is worth more!

The union rep shouted “ jackpot” ! Lol

I wouldn’t mind I just told them the truth, it’s taken 9-10 weeks to finally start to destress, but thinking about prisons sets my heart off still !

I know it’s not something you want to hear, but at least it explains why you were the way you were and why you hit one of your customers.

At least if you’ve got a clear diagnosis you can work to remedy things and work are responsible for getting you through it. They put you in the working environment that has done this to you

That minor altercation was probably overplayed on my part with the passage of time, but 100% I was loosing it big time.

At least I realised this and walked out, if I had not done that I dread to think what would have happened next … support since has been fantastic.

Reading “ it might be prudent to consider his condition a disability as defined by the Equality Act” was quite shocking and to some extent upsetting.

Talked to two of my friends today I don’t know why but I find it much harder to express my feelings to them than I do on here, I have no idea why that is…?!

Maybe in my tiny messed up mind it’s because I see all of you as one of me.
Older, younger, faster, slower, taller, slimmer we are all basically the same type of people.

Again thanks for all the messages and stuff.

After that report I guess the governor wouldn’t be allowed to let me back in the prison with out some sort of further assessment/ improvement.

Finish my counselling ( which is helping and I can recommend to anyone else who loses there marbles!) then they won’t hang around for a meeting it’s the right thing but doesn’t stop me feeling sad, there was a time not too long ago when I loved that job, I can’t imagine doing anything else?!

Good to hear that you are getting the support - better than you would get from some employers I know

I know Spike and La Marquise in real life, in fact I know them as ‘Dave and Susannah’ as IRL predated my TT1.0.

Spike remains a top Triathlete, although is really a cyclo-crosser who does the odd triathlon for fun over Summer.

Local Olympic on 16 July Spike won m60-69 but was faster than any M40 or M50 as well….

I think there’s an element of it being easier to write things down that are difficult to say as it takes the emotion out of it to an extent, by which I mean that it’s easier to be clear.

And I think (from my experience) that the support and advice here is mostly dispassionate and objective. We all want to help each other.

With friends, there’s generally a lot of history which can make things harder on both sides

One of them is going through a very nasty messy divorce, his problems far outweigh mine but we are very close.

Yes I’d help anyone on here and get the feeling it’s all over this site, I wouldn’t dream of putting some of this stuff on the boxing g and other sites I visit

I suspect a boxing site would have a more macho, show no weaknesses vibe to it.

The posters on this site are also predominantly male, but I don’t think we’re trying too hard. The relative anonymity of the site means that we can write stuff down that we wouldn’t necessarily want to share out loud. It can be quite therapeutic writing stuff down and the feedback is usually helpful, supportive and nonjudgmental
