Garden centres. Why? - Because we get 2 free coffees p/m at Dobbies. Let’s ignore the fact that it’s nearly 30kms away ![]()
What to look for in that bungalow? I never understood the bungalow hate. Nearly all houses in Oz are bungalows, love 'em.
When do you start lusting after a Honda Jazz? If you’ve seen how versatile the Honda Magic Seats are, you can tie this answer in with the garden ctr question. ![]()
Best place for first cruise? Has to be next to bowling club, in the Jazz, window down with Classic FM blaring and a look to the ladies that says ‘check out my agapanthus in the back’ ![]()
Oh, you meant the other kind of cruise!
Happy belated birthday

Happy birthday @fruit_thief , welcome to the wise and mature club ![]()
Now then, if you do go out on the pi55, ensure that you start at midday and end around 7-8. Gives you time then to go to bed early, and ooooops before I forget, if it’s beer that you’ve been drinking please ensure that you have a loo nearby for those through the night training slots ![]()
Also look forward to some really exciting niggles and pains, perhaps giving you the ability to whinge more, especially when people are in awe of what a 50odd year old achieves. Great conversational piece.
Work, well for some it starts to become a bigger picture issue (when compared with the world and real life), and you will start to realise how insignificant it all is, and especially all of the egos and bullshit at work… life threatening, nahhhh, thought not, so fuck off with your “important”. You will start to understand why you won’t be on your deathbed wishing that you’d have worked harder, or perhaps cleaned the house more often.
Ooooooh I could go on and waffle for years (as I’m in my 50s
), but know when to shut the f up (really?).
I guess I can now use the awesome phrase “have a great one, old bean” ![]()

Ah forgot to say, where core and strength is lesser about building strength and muscle for athletic ability, more so to fight off these blessed niggles.
Where you base your cardio training plan, not with phases to enable awesome performance at events, but with good old doing the max you can just about get away with without the temple whingeing.
…and another thing… no Clive, stopit.
a couple of other points when you get past 50, although more applicable once you pass 60
expect to groan or grunt when you stand up
get used to sitting down to put socks on. and pants.
have reading glasses in every room and vehicle as sure as hell, you’ll forget to have them handy when you need them. and then find you have the glasses from another room on your head and leave them in the room where you had a spare pair so have none in the room you took them from.
Erm, you do remember what his line of work is ![]()
Happy Birthday @fruit_thief ![]()
What the birthday fairy brought… Jumbo Visma team kit

No work yesterday so went to the National Museum to see the other dinosaurs.
Was slightly worried they might want to hang onto me as an exhibit, but in the end that didn’t happen ![]()
Did it come with a secret package of go faster juice that they use?
** possibly ![]()
Was the other present a dust buster for those leaves? ![]()
I spend most of my life simply ignoring how old I am.
Every once in a while I have to face up to it but mostly, I just get on with stuff.
Actually turning 50 was a real low point as I was having to accept that injury meant I could no longer run. Since then, my 50s have probably been my happiest decade as I’ve done things that I want to do, for no other reason than that. It’s been very liberating ![]()
Had to pay 40% tax on the second 30 k of my medical pay out !!!
<unts.
The first 30 is tax free!
Accountant says I will get “ most “ of that back in April
Yeah, the first £30k of redundancy is tax free, but the rest would be taxed based on your tax code.
Unfortunately, it taxes you as if you are going to earn that much every month, so you’ll always get over-taxed on a lump sum like that. You’ll get a refund when you file your tax return
It’s classed as redundancy tax wise according to the accountant
I thought he might tell me to hold off drawing my pension in jan but he said no apply for it
“ it will all come out in the wash” !
