The Sleep Thread

No, just stuck with running and walking. I think I only saw about 3 bikes Malta, the roads were pretty busy although the south is quieter so maybe more cycling there.

Doh I just realised that the Malta half was a half marathon and not a 70.3 :see_no_evil: - makes sense now - I thought you were being a little parsimonious in your report about the swim and bike legs

Not sure if you are boasting here about how little sleep you get when your wife is at home ?!?

I read it the other way and perhaps they need separate rooms if Joe needs a decent night sleep.

Supreme sleep champs in the house! What time do you go to bed/get-up and any specific habits that help? My sleep is garbage and I really need to sort it out.

I’m generally in bed before 10 these days and usually fall asleep fairly quickly. Weekday alarm is 6:50 but I’m usually awake before then, and the usual visit :toilet: at some point around 4am :joy:

Weekend is around 8 unless I’m racing somewhere

Ah good work! My goal is bed 1045 read 11 lights out, up at 7. At the moment it’s bed at 12, up at 730 but I wake up in the night as well for toilet and then mind starts buzzing! So I average just under 7h

Using your top scores as motivation and going to crack it

Yeah I’m very rarely in bed later than 10, normally about 9-930 I guess. I actually pop my headphones on and that sends me to sleep within 10 mins.

No alarm unless I’ve got to be in work. But tend to wake between 6-730. All depends.

Not allowed to go to bed before 10, woken up at 4 usually, get up at 6.

If I’m at work ( days ) then bed before 10. Wee at about midnight. Alarm at 4.50. Usually sleep ok.
If I’m on nights then bed at 7am, up about 1. Usually need a wee about 9.30 :man_shrugging: Sleep is usually broken and far from ideal.
Days off I’m still in bed not much after 10 and up at 7.30.
I always make sure I get proper recovery sleep on my days off as I often work extra night shifts and you need 2 or 3 days to recover.

Our current pattern is bed around 8.30pm, alarm goes off at 5.15am

During Ramadan alarm didn’t need to go off until 6am so we lived life on the edge and stayed up until about 9pm

I normally sleep like a baby but the last 2 weeks have been challenging because of hip injury, turning over in bed is not pleasant and requires being fully alert & both arms guiding the leg

Haven’t had any caffeine for 48hrs - thought it might improve my sleep

Had a really annoying headache all morning (which I never usually get) so have caved and had a cup of Yorkshire Tea

Waiting for the ache to stop

Amazing how just one night of poor sleep affects you, must have been wide awake from about 2:30 until 5 and poor sleep after.

Everything is a challenge I can’t be arsed with anyone’s bollocks :joy:

Probably not helping recovery either.
