The Sleep Thread

Oi. Thats one of the best threads on here.

Sorry :see_no_evil: that was very unfair, it was just the first random thread that came to mind.

Actually would have apologised sooner, but I just went to check that thread out & before I knew it 8 hours had passed and daylight was streaming in through the windows…

I rarely watch GCN these days but have been following this series from Dan Loyd, have found it very interesting. Watched the sleep one last, just before putting the light out. :man_facepalming:t2:

I can’t recommend the sleep supplements , went downhill after a good start.
image. Got better over the last week but a real dip 7-14th August that has a sizable effect on training.

I’ve been to see a doctor for some blood tests just in case somethings amiss, probably not likely but every stone and all that. The Doctor gave me some general advise docs but not likely news to anyone here.

Sleep score of 87 - felt marvellous

That’s about right for us too. Up at 5.30am gives 8.5 to 9 hours.

My bedtime and getting up pattern has always been very consistent but my sleep pattern is terrible and getting worse lately., I wake up extremely easily but usually go back to sleep ok but it happens multiple teams.
Lately though, the going back to sleep bit isn’t really happening much. :slightly_frowning_face:

My youngest currently has it too. Not napping during the day but fortunately still sleeping through the night

Another terrible pre-race sleep :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Feels like I barely slept for more than a few minutes!

Don’t sweat it! It affects RPE but not performance, “you got this!”…

In an absolute hole this morning.

18:30 running club interval session last night followed by a 06:15 swim this morning.

Sleep was really difficult to find as my legs were fidgety & head was racing.

I’m pretty sure a C/D after the session would greatly benefit me but don’t have time as I leave immediately to collect my wife from an evening class.

Ideally I’d cycle to my wife afterwards but I can’t find anywhere to secure my bike while running.

I’ll figure something out…

Conversely I had a sleep score of 93 last night that helped earn me a Sleep Streak badge from Garmin, 75+ for 7 consecutive days which apparently I’ve only ever had 3 times.

I’ve slept poorly for a good few days now despite what the Garmin says, the Zwift finished before 7 so I should have recovered from that by then. But in the routine of waking up at some random time and not getting back to sleep for at least an hour.

Going to bed at a consistent time and getting up. Seems to be a bit full on at the minute despite not really training that hard.
