Ingleby Cross & Cod Beck? I’m bored, and I do love Google Earth
It’s a possibility.
Last year - for my 52nd - I did 52km with 1900mtrs, so the Lite would give me 53 @ 53 with 2500mtrs. I think any longer - in early March - would be a stretch for me without support & no electricity at the site to charge stuff & heat up drinks/grub.
So, yeah I’m thinking…
Be careful out there, bloody slippy where the sun hasn’t touched it.
There will be hot food provided. Lots of of flasks with boiling water as well as tea/coffee.
Power bank is all you need for charging. You must have one from your longer adventures?
Haha, cyber stalking!
Yes, that’s them. Ingleby Cross and Ingleby Arncliffe are essentially on the A19 DC which is rarely closed and easy to get to. Then there’s a track up to the Cleveland way and beyond.
It’s also in the coast to coast.
Me too. I get so cold once I get home after a run. Yesterday I told my dh to put the sauna on for after my run. Don’t know why I don’t do this more often. Anyway, it was just wonderful going from shivering cold into the hot sauna.
Interesting there’s no mention of that on the website.
Little slipppy at 6am this morning
If I get really cold, I simply can’t get in the shower, it’s so painful on my feet and hands.
Running yes - cycling no past Oct/nov these days (unless a nice dry day or cheap flight to spain lol) I walked past a chap coming other way wearing nothing on his feet other day. Don’t know want that was about. It was about 3 degrees. It was like one of those anxiety dreams when you have to walk home through town just in a pair of socks… anyone had that one?
First proper cold, mucky winter ride yesterday.
Went past a guy in shorts at one point!
I saw 4 of my club mates at the coffee shop yesterday. They were at the end of a 45 mile ride. I was in the car on my way to town and get some diesel.
They looked thoroughly cold, muddy and miserable, I did not. They had achieved something that morning, I had not.
Bet they didn’t come home with diesel
Don’t tell Greta
I’m alone amongst my cycling friends in not wanting to take coffee stops unless well deserved. There is some common sense here as I get EIA quite badly if 2 or 3 triggers are in place, one of which is stopping for any length of time (when combined with over-exertion, hot and humid weather, things can turn horrid).
Since I aim for no more than 45-50 miles max in winter, to me that means there shouldn’t be a stop. Added to which you just end up cold and damp, especially when setting off after the stop.
Chat whilst riding and have a treat at home!
Exactly this!
I hate stopping on rides if any length
Bottle refills, Coke and a quick pee only
This came up as an item we voted on at our recent AGM (we’re a small club, not too many things to vote on!)
The motion was ‘winter rides, make them shorter with a stop at the end’ discussion was around how miserable it is to try and get going again in winter.
Everyone agreed, motion carried.
Are you even a cyclist without a cake stop! It’s the only reason I go cycling
I fully understand this … and I love cake … but any stop should be short; no longer than it takes to eat cake & drink coffee (30 mins max)
I’m all for a bit of brekkie when 40 miles into a century ride in Snowdonia on a nice summer day but tucking into a fry-up on a 40 mile ride … come on!
Same.
If i have a 3 hour window, i want to fill it with as close to 3 hours of riding as possible. Not 2 1/4 riding and 45 mins sat drinking coffee in my cycling kit!
