Training - What Training?!

Same. I’m making a chicken stew with a pastry lid (not a pie) instead of doing anything. Kid didn’t even want to run parkrun properly today, so I didn’t even get my 2km Sunday run.

Never mind. It’s cold. I’m warm. And I’m gonna be full of food soon! :yum: :pig::pig:

Did the fell race this morning, bit of a disaster really and was 7 minutes slower than 4 years ago.

Was feeling pretty tired beforehand but it’s one of my favourite routes, went down in the first K but luckily on soft grass, rolled the ankle not long after! Was just feeling totally drained after about 4K and stopped to contemplate going back.

Pushed back on and actually felt a little bit better in the second half and went back past a few people.

Need a rest now. Had a big week with 2 hard hour long Zwift races and the tiny series yesterday, albeit not contesting the sprints.

Didn’t get to sleep until about 4:30 for no good reason last night. I forced myself up at about 9. At about 12 I decided to go for a walk and see if I could do some Christmas Shopping.

I failed to do any Christmas Shopping, I did get to visit a forge in Peckham and had to fight the urge to spend £320 on a knife (Gyuto — Blenheim Forge).

I also spent a while in a cheesemongers. That’s a dangerous place to visit.

In the end it was about 3.5 hours of walking around, which is all I’m going to manage in the world of training.

We have had 2 big heaps of old tree branches in our garden for about 6 months. Maybe longer. Actually could be 18 months thinking about it. Our garden is completely walled, only way out is through the house. So they needed burning, but the weather needs to be just right not to annoy the neighbours. Cold enough that their windows are all shut, dry enough that the wood isn’t wet, windy enough that the smoke gets blown away.

Anyway we got back late morning and I realised today was the day. So just spent 4 hours lifting gathering chopping and burning. Reek of smoke now. Good work out too, going to ache a bit tomorrow I reckon.

Been ill most of the week, so all my runs were very easy, almost certainly my slowest weeks running in a long time, mostly around 4:50-4:55/km had presumably recovered a bit today, 'cos todays was 17.5km at 4:28. So actually, by being ill, my highest ever weekly total in distance, and probably time (only have ~5 years handy, coud’ve been some time consuming ones from the time when I was slow, and followed the run slow)

In distance it was only 0.5km more than the previous highest, which was 3 weeks ago, so hardly huge gains…

148km to go for 4000km for the year.

I love the smell of BBQ hedgehog in the afternoon too!

That did cross my mind but noone scurried out of the pile… Well there was a blackbird. Carried all the branches to the far corner of the garden to burn them, so definitely no toasted hedgehogs.
