Training - What Training?!

Went for a run with the wife and the dog, got soaked, loved it.

Anyone else find post Covid their heart rate when exercising was much higher? My breathing felt comfortable but my HR was about 10-15 beats higher than where it should have been

I should have gone out today but my CBA lately is strong. The hips are still troublesome at night and I have a 50km race next Tuesday.

Hard ( for me) bike intervals, on tired legs and too little sleep, excuses over !

170 W
255 W
X15 ā€¦

Failed the last hard interval at 29 mins, in fact I didnā€™t start itā€¦ so perfect session.

Fairly sure mine was over for a while, but maybe not that much. More that it felt like after giving blood where everything felt about 5-10% harder and couldnā€™t get top speed.

I paid proper attention to hr after covid ( Jan this year )
I know it was rare but some endurance athletes ( thatā€™s us !) experienced serious issues lost covid, but most probably went at it too hard too soon Iā€™m guessing ?

Looking back in the bible I didnā€™t run for three weeks, and avoided cardio

A month later it was back to ā€œ normal ā€œ

I had something viral the week before Cotswolds race back in July. The Covid tests never turned positive, but part of me wonders as all the symptoms were there.

By race day I was on the mend, but probably still shouldnā€™t have started. In my head I knew it was a bad idea.

The actual race was uneventful apart from being very slow and being sick all over my handlebars. But the following week, went out for a gentle run with a friend. About 3km in my HR suddenly dropped and I went clammy and pale, had to sit down in the road for a bit and then walked home. And there was one night about a week after when I woke up in the middle of the night with my heart bumping all over the place for about 30 seconds, think it was possibly a burst of AF. Never had anything like it before or since, thankfully.

Havenā€™t mentioned this before as didnā€™t want to seem like a drama queen, but seeing as weā€™re talking about it. If I ever get something similar Iā€™ll definitely be taking it easy until well over it & not doing any smackdowns.

Yeah it was nothing crazy, was peaking at 166 where has I would have expected 150-154 for that effort.

Ill be taking it wasy till I feel fully over it.

Final swim of the year done. 3 pyramid sets to take me up to 3800m. Eldest was up half the night and I was absolutely exhausted but forced myself to stick with it. Was on fumes by the end so it was a fairly painful pace - so slow Poet would probably consider it ban worthy, but itā€™s over. And a year ago I could barely swim more than a few hundred metres of freestyle, so progress.

Wondering if I can get away with stealing one of the kidsā€™ selection boxes.

Training when sick.

Pause for heckling.

I just want to do 30 mins easy on the turbo this morning, and an easy run tonight.

Iā€™m exhausted, hacking my lungs up and feel terrible. But Iā€™ve been laying around for a week, and the week before was no training because I was covering my wifeā€™s jobs too. My whole body, apart from my lungs, throat and head, wants train.

My propaganda plan is to pretend that itā€™s good for meā€¦because the cold air and exercise will get me to hack up more phlegm and get it out of my system. Then I might get some sodding sleep.

Does your body crave it like Ashley Horner? :joy:

Personally Iā€™d do stuff that doesnā€™t get you out of breath.
Weights
Press ups
Stretching
Static circuit.

I know itā€™s frustrating but you will gain nothing and could make it worse.
