Training - What Training?!

Drop the damper setting down for distance work surely? Ie not 5 or 10 cal bursts.

Good work @Spina. Will have to see if I can get my chest strap paired up with the one at my gym.

I’ve always put it on ten…?!

I’ll try next time

Yeah lots of people whack it on 10 without thinking. I’d try it on 6 or 7. You’ll have a much better time and less likely to blow your arms out. For reference Hyrox Men Pro, its preset at 7 but you can change it once.

Nice FP! I went for a hilly 12km trail run yesterday, climbing wall tonight

Thanks Anna. Was yours some last minute stuff, aren’t you off soon?

No no, been training all winter, almost everday - alternating running and climbing. However, I have been trying to get in some more hills lately. I’m off in about 2.5 weeks, I’ll probably take the week before a bit easier.

I use a drag factor of 110 on the rower and 70 on the skierg. With the damper set at highest point it’s very difficult to maintain flywheel speed and the stroke will feel very heavy.

I’m about 120 on the rower and 90 on the skier. These drag factors are the best compromise between power and endurance. Plenty of info on the C2 website about how to use damper settings and drag factors.

Too many set the dampers on 10 which is fine for very short power bursts or also specific sets, but for general use should not be used. Drop the macho and look at how the top guys use them - top rowers will rarely be above 5 on the damper.

Am I missing something here?

Dial goes from 1-10 on both concept machines?

I’ll try both on 7 next session

they are exactly the same flywheels! so yes.

1 to 10 damper means different things on each machine… before starting a piece use the menu button on the monitor to ā€˜display drag factor’ then adjust the damper to find the drag which suits you. I’m 173cm and 70kg so find that a lower drag is best. As noted above even 6’5 110kg olympic rowers use a range between 125 and 145

There is a cover plate on the Skierg to limit the airflow and slightly reduce the drag.

is there? never checked - must have a look!

ETA: just looked - you’re right. Never noticed that before and assumed both rower and skier flywheels were exactly the same. Durr.

Sitck 'em both on 7 on the damper and see how you go. You should be able to get into a rhythm much easier.

I’ll let you know !

Thanks.

Get on that sled, I really wish I could return the favour technique wise, the faster guys do seem to lift the back up slightly?!

Look at the vids and you will see what I mean

Presumably the lower you are pushing, the more you are pushing forward and not down into the ground - why the guys in a rugby scrum try to set low?

Comfort is also an element here, and the design of the sled.
The pro event has a heavier sled there low ish but not rugby pack low, 50 ms can be a long way!
