partly but theres a lot more to it than that as it’s a dynamic situation. as a 30 year front rower I have some experience here
Big day yesterday
12km run at 4:50s, 1 hour of barbell METCON (250m ski and 15 American KB swings every 2 mins x 5 was especially grim) and then 45km on the bike.
Injury update, MRI scans back, adductor tendons look fine, however there is an issue around the iliopsoas tendon. Dr Google suggests its not common injury. Got to wait for the Dr to get back from his jollies in SA to be re-examined before proceeding to a possible injection.
A PB week for me it seems. 15:03 for 750m in the pool this morning, a solid 30 seconds off. Helped there was a guy slightly faster than me who I could sit behind for most of it.
Although I was ready to drown the old man who pushed off the wall in front of me and I’m blaming for costing me sub-15
7km trail run this morning, -4 degrees, but the sun is finally shining
Nice!
Back at it today with hour bike / hour run. Unusually someone started talking to me on the next bike?! That’s never happened before?!
Usual 700 cals/ 190 ish watts. Av hr 151 should be lower but I enjoyed the chat.
1 min rest
Hour run at 4:55 kph pace, felt comfy again hr went high at the end but I could feel I wasn’t breathing hard, heat build up I guess? 158 av.
Felt easier today.
Hero day today !
Went back to spin class, wanted to do some hyrox stuff but that’s how you get injured!
One hour spin, av hr 155.
Rest day tomorrow
Good work @Paul. Always some inconsiderate idiots in the pool.
Another busy day, but managed to get a 30 minute spin class in post 7pm.
Quite good, seemed to be lots of 30 secs heavy, 30 secs fast, 30 secs recovery.
Never heard of Hyrox before last weekend and then a lad from my climbing club takes part in Hyrox Germany (he was invited to take part as one of his sponsers was a sponser of the event) and now you’re posting pictures on here. Is this a major crossfit event? Have I been living under a rock again and ignoring popular culture? Is this even crossfit?
Don’t worry. I haven’t heard of it before
Ditto, never heard of it but it looks and sounds pretty grim! The things we get up to in the name of leisure
No exercise yesterday. Sat at my desk 8-5, with a very short lunch break.
Hoping for a shorter day today, with a jog in a moment, then a tour of Scotland this afternoon
4km frosty jog done
On site tomorrow (I know, Friday + M6 = )
There’s a physical fitness test, which I’m sure @Mungo2 is very familiar with…
1000m Run (outdoor or treadmill at 2% incline)
50 Burpee Broad Jumps (over 90cm)
100 Stationary Lunges
1000m Row
30 Push Ups (Hand Release)
100 Wall Balls (6kg male / 4kg
We have two high standard crossfitters “staying “ lol…with us in work.
Hyrox seems strange in that triathletes think it’s a CrossFit event, yet these two put it in a similar bracket to tri / endurance event “too much running “ seemed to be there opinion on it.
Time wise the run is usually about 50% of the event unless things go badly wrong which seems to be happening to quite a few people.
It’s mostly practice and fitness, looks god fun- ish
It does look like good fun and with the Stuttgart event only 30mins away, it almost sparked my interest.
I first heard of it when I saw it on Mark Lewis’ channel I think early last year. Then I saw a reference to it on ST, so I assume it’s growing in a lot of countries now?
Yes and I’ve just found out it originated in Germany
So it’s your fault.
A massive money earner for whoever runs it
I also like the idea of being able to do it as a pair/mixed pair
I do like the look of it but other irons in the fire for this year
