I don’t doubt your wrong but comparing it to a Tri or say a HM event. They need an internal space, a fuck load of calibrated kit (C2 Ski and Row), loads of weights, marshalls checking reps per station (I think?, probably volunteers), set up and pull down labour, transporting all that lot and storing it between events. I don’t have any idea how much outdoor venue rents are or road closures/licenses. But from the outside a Hyrox event seems a lot more expensive to put on to me.
I’m now thinking this might be what some of them do at our gym a couple of evenings a week. I always thought it was just a general circuits class ![]()
True enough
Mrs T and I paid £10 each to get in to spectate
There were hundreds of spectators plus people who entered plus a load of catering stalls selling food drinks and beer. Lots of hyrox merch for sale
I don’t know how much it is to enter
A stall getting gym owners to sign up to their programmes which includes buying the ski ergs etc
Suspect that they are doing alright
Its about £100 per entry currently. I’m sure last year it was about 60 but maybe someone else on this thread can clarify?
I’ll look forward to about 2 years time when the 2nd hand market will be flooded with ski ergs and I can grab a bargain.
10km easy, 53,48 at 5.22 pace
Horrible run earlier, but also one of those banker ones.
Been busy last 2 days so haven’t made it out but have eaten a lot. Yesterday at work I was still hungry after my roast dinner. So I bought a second one! ![]()
Anyway. Went out with a plan to do like 15-20km at a decent pace. But that didn’t happen.
Ended up starting too fast. Which sent my HR sky high. Then my legs were aching very quickly. So I didn’t really know what to do. So I kept on at the higher pace, hoping to get to about 10km. Went through 5km in 19.30. Was trying to decide whether to drop the pace and do another 10, or up the pace and just do another 5. Opted for the latter. But it was really biting at 8km. Still managed to do the neg split, but it was very hard.
Bloody new shoes were mega tight. The flyknit needs to stretch and loosen as I couldn’t feel my feet after 5 mins. Horrible feeling. Achilles and calves are super tight now as a result.
Recovery kms were much more positive. HR dropping, but decent pace return on whacked legs.
Hated every minute of the run. But it was a rough and tough one that’s now in the bank. So trying to be grateful for that.
Got that horrible feeling when struggling to do 10km at a pace that a few years ago I was cruising at. My impatience and high expectations of myself don’t make the ‘accepting where I am’ very easy!
Sorry, that was a rant and a training thread all in one!

Slow down, like the rest of us mortals. ![]()
Yeah, I hate running a sub 39 10K ![]()

But I USED to be able to run faster. Now I can’t.

Got me right in the feels there Doony.
Up at 4, in the gym for 4:30.
5k row.
2 sets each of donkey kicks, weighted bridges, sumo squats, calf raises, sit ups.
3hrs at the climbing wall - great climbing session, working on leading a 6c+ - so happy I can climb harder routes again after pulling my finger pulley in Dec. ![]()
Well done Anna ![]()
Thank you FP ![]()
It’s about £100 to enter in London, gets progressively cheaper as you go further north - Glasgow is coming up soon.
I would imagine that they make a fair bit of money, they clearly do have overheads not least hiring out a conference space for the day and kitting it out with equipment and manpower.
Glasgow Saturday ?
Two pairs and one individual from local gym racing.
90mins hilly trail run this morning. -6.5 degrees, but bright blue sky and sunshine. Best run I’ve had in ages, really lovely - feeling all recharged, like I’ve just come back from a holiday ![]()
Nice pic Anna. I was reading something on ST about hunting in Germany. Is that a concern in the wilds when running?
