Training - What Training?!

82 miles, 50% wales elevation second half of ride pi$$ing it down. Left hamstring was tight and getting a bit sore so called it a day rather than push on, save that for the day.

Long walk yesterday 42km, 8:06 hrs and 851 meters vert. That brings me to 95km for the week. Planned an easy week next week, as we’re visiting Munich for a few days.

There are a lot of folks that couldn’t run a marathon in that time Anna. Solid walk that, well done. :+1:

Entered that ultra yet?

Thanks FP  Can’t register until January 2024, lots of time to think about it. After this event I need to change my focus back to climbing for a climbing trip to Mallorca in November - need to get strong :muscle::rofl:

At the moment I’m looking at the rain, contemplating whether doing 5km to get to 100km for the week is worth it🙈

Edit: Did a 6.5km trail run in the rain. Sun’s shining now

4 x 1 mile at the track this morning, resting 2 minutes in between each set.
Averaged 6:32 per mile, which I was quite happy with.

Will try and do a 30 minute spin class later.

Great week of training for me - completed every planned session for once (probably ever). 15hrs.

New FTP PB of 343W. Moved up to Cat A on Zwift. Completed Four Horseman route on Zwift with avg power >230W. Plus > 40miles of running. If only every week went this well.

So they learned their lesson, got up earlier this morning and finally managed to get me:

Old man pulled out straight into my side, knocked me down, hitting the road, my bike and legs under the car. He reversed a bit apparently dragging me back a bit too.

What a nightmare. He didn’t brake immediately so there was a moment trying to stay out from under the car, holding the front of the car when I though this could be it.

Surprisingly I seem to be okay, soft tissue damage all over to me, and only some scratches on the bike. Passers-by stopped with me and helped me out. Ambulance crew checked me out and seem to be nothing more than scratches and bruises.

Trying not to have knee jerk reactions, but my plans to leave in the indoor trainer behind until winter are being revised

Bike seems okay, which really surprises me. I’m sure I could feel the rear wheel being deformed, but it might have been his bumpers I suppose. I’ll take it to a mechanic, but wheels are turning, only obvious damage is cosmetic.

Of course, the helmet did not “save my life” as people love to say, in fact it hasn’t crumpled at all on the side I remember hitting. There is a crack at the rear of the helmet so some impact must have been absorbed. My new watch is scratched up :frowning:

I was really looking forward to this ride so it might sound strange but my body is still yearning to pound hills. My hip means running is unlikely, my shoulders and arms are
going to make swimming hard work. So I think light barbell work and indoor cycling are on the cards.

New helmet, jersey, maybe watch. Maybe bike.

Not having much luck with watches recently.

Rude not to when it’s on their insurance eh?

The best news is that you’ve survived an incident which could have been so much worse and so hope your injuries heel quickly. I hope you pursue some sort of claim as he shouldn’t be driving if he is a danger to others.

Blimey @joex, shit luck but as others have said could have been far worse.

What did the driver say?
