Also a double day.
PM bike 36 miles 2700 odd ft of ascent, a pedestrain 2h40mins
Eve loch swim nice leisurely 0.75 mile, just me swimming and a couple of paddle boarders so nice and peaceful. Breathing every 5, a bit choppy but beautiful and sunny

As itās double day, I did the same. Both token efforts though. 6K run, 1K swim but did a few weights after as well.
Computrainer is playing up
At first wouldnāt start
Then wouldnāt register the pedals turning
Now above 2 ok but the resistance is wildly varying
Searching for online help but I fear itās so old that not getting anywhere
Might have to enter the modern age/zwift etc
Lifted tin
Worked
Biked hard intervals
Worked
Pub
Movie and ice cream
Bloody dreadful swim this morning. Right from the off I just wasnāt feeling it and every length just dragged on. Didnāt help with the pool feeling like it was about 600 degrees. Sacked it off after 45 mins as I was struggling.
Hopefully get out for an easy runch today. Though weather has turned grey and wet and windy again.
Ankle is āhealingā (as in it bloody hurts)
So nowt yāday.
Aiming to jump on Zwift before heading over to Leeds, Leeds, Leeds later
I went to pool for first time since May (?) and my first thought was āthis is colder than the bl00dy lakeā.
I thought they were all turning the temps down to save energy costs - clearly not.
Our pool has been cold for about 8 weeks, Iād swap with bongo or funkster any day
Itās vile. You shouldnāt feel that youāre sweating in a blimmin pool!
The 19⦠m one we have ( part of gym membership ) is boiling and gets choppy when you have it to yourself!
I think they keep it at 29? Or something crazy.
All my PW swims have been in there much faster in a river or lake with a suit on, faster in other colder pools too, use it as training and keep going
That was the other thing. Our pool had roughly 20 in it (across 4 lanes). The chop was awful. Far worse than any outdoor swim Iāve done. Iād never cope in a sea swim!
When I said to the paddleboarders/dippers (not feathered!) last night about the lower than normal Summer temp in the Loch, they said they hadnāt noticed⦠well I guess not when you pootle about for 5 mins with your head like a meerkat
Give me a 600 degree pool/Loch anyday
Pool has no
Gutters
Hand rails at either end
Lanes at all
Very shallow
Very warm
When itās packed itās really choppy
Itās crap⦠I guess if you can swim in there you can swim Anywere
BUT itās free !
Swimming again tonight.
4 x 400m, rest 1:00.
Pleased with the pacing, managed 1:38/100m as an overall average.
Bloke in the next lane was swimming 2k straight through.
Seen him before and he purposefully swims at the same rate as me (possibly to keep him company).
Thing is, he can obviously go a lot faster, whereas Iām pushing it. Remind me of this quoteā¦
Does that overall 1m38s per 100 include the rest periods? Got a sinking feeling that it mightā¦
So @apm is doing 5:32/400m ā¦
Thatās good.
Although ⦠isnāt he a former international water polo player?
Sadly not Fruity.
The days of swimming those kind of times on repeat have long gone.
@Poet, I reckon I could still do that pace as a one off 400m. Even though I may need an oxygen tank after.
My LTS PB is 5:12-5:22, canāt quite recall.
Iād struggle to do 6mins now
Or even 45s for 50m with a diving start
Finally went out for a run, felt strong and fast on the trails. The last path, caught a root and went straight over on to the hip and bruises from the car last Sunday.
Jogged it out, walked home and washed off the sweat-dirt mud.
Zwift last night, climb portal + volcano laps for about an hour. A nice bit faster than in the week, was short of breath but manageable
SPO2 levels at 92% this morning though. Always seem to struggle next day if I push it a little
