Training - What Training?!

Just a lung buster really, with various weight carries; no sports kit. Based on a supposedly legendary jaunt over the hills, apparently.

Just trying to compensate for lack of swimming ability

Little bit down this week, need to buck up my ideas on the long runs and just get them donešŸ‘

Still feeling good and enjoying the training

Signed up for Tunbridge Wells Half Mara, a local vendetta to be settled hopefully.

Just signed up for Fleet half marathon in the middle of March. Should hopefully tick off one of my 2020 goals with that.

Only my second stand alone half marathon. First was back in 2012!

My last standalone Half was 1997 iirc; Great West Run. Was a PB too, 34th/1200ish. Still have the results at home somewhere from a newspaper

My first half was the Great West Run as well! Back before i was a ā€˜runner’.

After my run today Garmin has upgraded me to 55 VO2 max. Doesn’t really mean anything on it’s own, but it’s trending the right way!

Impressive swimming! 3.5ky in 46 minutes. Assume that is from a watch and doesn’t include rest time?

Yeah, that’s swimming time

Haha, my Garmin got up to 55 2 weeks ago, it’s now asking if I’ve retired

my garmin gets really confused because i’m spending more and more time on zwift, and that goes nowhere near my watch, as i’ve got a separate BT HRM, and use my ipad or laptop… as a consequence, it thinks i’m about as fit as an asthmatic coal miner, with occasional burst of hidden potential… :joy:

ā€œLongā€ run of 17.77km yesterday afternoon, similar feeling to that of @gingerbongo

Whilst it was the longest I’ve ran since 26th November (15.55km) it was pretty easy running it as 9 minutes run, 1 minute walk - coming out at 5:02/km (including the walk breaks), 4:47/km without the walking.

Need to get that down to 4:47/km with the walking…so around 4:30/km whilst running.

Slightly lighter week in terms of riding but kept the running up, first track session for a while and rep’d the club in the local 10 miler on Sunday - not back to fitness really but got round in 1:07 for 2nd club runner and 39th out of 500+ finishers. Properly windy and lots of hills so kept a lid on the effort to make sure I finished without blowing up spectacularly!

Will ease back into the running later this week but will get back to full volume on the bike.

Went to see my sports therapist friend last night who has given me some areas to work on, mobility and strength wise; should sort out the lack of mobility and strength in some areas

Nice. A run I take it?

I had mushroom and cheese wrap!

Good work!

Yes, 60 min run from the office. My Strava is private now, but I still just find it the easiest way to compare runs and look at the maps using a mobile site/app.
