Training - What Training?!

Do people think this is why early morning/late evening jiggers are doing it on the road?
Instead of the pavement?

Now I’ve gone over on my left ankle, both ankles are utterly fooked. They’re both so swollen it looks like I’ve oedema :joy:

anyways

… finally walked the dogs before 7am, walked my wife to the station and myself to the pool :boxing_glove:
Been meaning to do this for ages, finally done it.

I’m in Cov tomorrow, so going to try and go for a very light jog there before work :white_check_mark:

Just 5 X 300m easy. Did about 5:12 for each one :joy::joy: but I was using toys and for some reason I’m slower with paddles and a buoy :exploding_head:

Absolutely starving now … only two hours until “breakfast” thanks to @Jorgan and his 16:8 fasting mention elsewhere.

which ones?

Not eating after exercise for two hours ?!
Just to hit the fasting hours.

You could break yourself in with 14h first?

They are a pair of carbon platey road shoes, but not as cushioned as the Nike shoes. Feel like a really hard ride. Can’t remember the exact make, have relegated them to walking about shoes.

Rocket X? They don’t get rave reviews.

I’m a Hoka fan but only on a few models. Some of them are pants.

Did you buy one or two? Could be your problem right there if you are mixing with Nike trainers

Interesting. As they were the most popular pro shoes in the combined women’s and men’s top 10s apparently.

I mean that also talks to depth of sponsorship budget of course.

It probably speaks more to the speed they actually work at. (plus the paid for plugs of course )

Also could be that the latest iteration is much better but I know the first one or two didn’t go down that well, or at least ’ were no better than’ (insert brand/model)

5km test run with a 1km walk home. calf feels largely ok but back of my right knee is a bit tight and ‘achey’. Softly softly toward the weekend.

Do you live in near me? :joy::joy::joy:
It’s de rigeur to wear either On Cloud or Hoka to just walk about in :joy:

EDIT: just walked by someone in the pink/orange Nikes. In a hoody. And Jean shorts. Not running. Just walking.

A happy and lucky to be fit healthy and alive day. It would have been tremendously rude of me not to!

AM run, about 1.5 hours, sunrisetastic.
Slight hammy pain now gone… I suspect it was a minor trapped nerve and nowt to do with hammy yay that’s good

@FatPom to answer your earlier question, they are Hoka pro fly X

I may be being too hard on them, but they don’t seem to suit me at all. Whereas vaporfly and alphafly seem to reduce shock , these almost seem to increase it for me. At least that’s what it feels like. Guess it’s a personal thing, probably for some people they are great. When I got injured was running 50-60km per week mixing it up in these and a pair of non carbon plate Sauconies which feel fine.

Another 1500m swim.

CSS “test” with warm up and cool down.

3:18 and 6:47 :joy::joy::joy:
(Used to be 2:50/5:50)

At least I’m linear in my slovenliness :joy::joy::joy:

ETA: that gives a CSS of 1:44/100m, which is utter poppycock, as my average pace over the whole set (and all this week) is less than that.
I’m not really trying at that pace.
Can still knock out 4 x 50m on 1:00 all at 45s.
Also do a couple of 100s at 1:35.

I reckon it’s endurance that is lacking.

Ignore the CSS and just swim more :white_check_mark:

The point being, if you swam at 1:44 you’d be able to do more than 1500m at a time…

I used to have a CSS pace very similar to another guy, yet he was quicker than me over both the 200 and the 400 - and any session we swam. He had a relatively slow CSS because his drop-off 200 to 400 was big, while mine was virtually non-existent. When we swam sets together, I could barely hold his feet to start with, but he could barely hold mine by the end. He used to complain about being asked to swim so slow, but once he did, he could hold his pace until the end of the session.
