Training - What Training?!

I can’t do more than 1500m at a time as I’ve only swam 14.9km in total this year. And my shoulders and hands fricking wreck!
Mainly my hands.

I don’t wanna do 1.9km straight, as it’s BORING

Only doing 30mins in the pool for a few weeks, then I’ll up it to 40mins, then probably stop going again :joy::joy::joy:

I was doing 4km in an hour back in 2021 :sob::sob:

EDIT: But yes, I get your point :white_check_mark:
I always thought that CSS was like your FTP.
Ish.
Like that speed is what is repeatable for your 100s, 200s etc :person_shrugging:t3:
(Ish!)

Month – August 2023

Summary
July was my biggest training month in years, with 36 sessions for a SBR total of 39h 9m. :sunglasses:
Whereas, August ended up as just one of those months (funeral in USA, DIY, BiL visit, etc.).
At least I managed to do something, but just 19 sessions and a total of 17h 2m.

Swim – 0 km
Club takes a full break for two weeks, then reduced sessions, before a full restart next week.
Unfortunately, I just couldn’t line up my time and/or energy to even make a public session.

Bike – 327 km
Included some short easy sessions to spin out my legs after climbing DIY ladders all day!

Run – 43 km
Two runs in the last four days of August gives me some hope for September.

Overall
Despite this reduced August, 2023 is still on track to be my best training year in a long time.
So, I just need to keep the faith and get back into a more normal routine in September.

Cheers, Paul.

30 minute spin class at lunch.

Swim again later, another 30 minutes or so.

2.5hr 75km easy ride.
Set off at 0840. Having ate my last calorie at 1840 the evening prior. Just chewing my bars counting down the seconds until 1040 when I could have my banana

Punctured due to a sidewall blow out. :sob:
GP5000 too. On a corner, must’ve hit a little divot.
Anyway, milk bottle cut up fixed that.
Then I’d put my tire on the wrong way round.
So had to take it off again.
FFS.
Two gas cannisters used, and they were just for me :joy::wink:

Then saw a pal, so stopped for a chat.

About 30mins stopping.
My ex-club would be proud :joy::joy::joy:

It was a local 50km guided run, very small group. Achilles became very painful about 24km in, so reduced to walking. Very annoying as it was my right leg going tight I was worried about but that was fine. This was on the left side.

Getting old really does take a toll. :disappointed:

50 minutes in the gym. Stomach still off.

15 minute row.
3 ascending sets of banded bridges, calf raises, military presses, bicep curls and a token side plank to finish.

@Poet
That climb up to Alport Height…

Funnily enough almost added this to my ride…

Just didn’t fancy it today with hip still a bit sore. So your telling me I can do that segment… Then keep climbing for another 9km

That’s not it. That’s where the Shining Cliff Fell Race is :white_check_mark:

Alport - Used to do it all the time.
Pre strava … I’ll see if I can find my old times from my wired Cat-Eye speedo :joy::joy::joy:

Can you see this?
You’ve got to go up the gravel track to the transmitters.
On 23mm tyres.
Pumped to 120psi.
True 2009 style :joy:

Err no. One does not do gravel.

I only looked at that other climb out of Ambergate as it was in the Midlands climb list

Well the climb stops at 9.95km, the gravel just extends it to 10km.

You can just stay on the road :white_check_mark:

Nice FP! I know you had trouble with your achilles, but that’s still a good training run😊

Thanks Anna. Just hope I haven’t scuppered my race for this Saturday. :crossed_fingers:

What race are you doing on Sat FP?

Dartmoor in a Day. I’ve done it twice before, one good year, one very bad year. (last year). It’s approx 52km with 950mtr vert.
