Training - What Training?!

40 min MTB off road to a mates, then 9 mile off-road run over a few hills, then a beer and whiskey in the pub on the end of run back to mate’s house. Bit of chill in front of her fab stove, then MTB 30 mins on road back home into a brutal headwind… and breathe.

Another 8 hours for me this week, had a 12K hike/jog today though which bumped it a bit.

3 other runs but longest was 7K. 3 bikes and 3 swims.

Staying fairly steady ATM but the leg isn’t getting much better either. Got some plans for the NY to try and get it sorted. Gym is closed until Weds so no swimming until then.

Will do a parkrun tomorrow though.

Yesterday the “never say no to a family run” rule got sorely tested. Ended up doing 3 separate runs: one with #2 before breakfast, one with #1 mid morning, and one with #3 in the evening to rate the town’s Christmas lights

Rating the lights has become a bit of a tradition, a 10km loop around the perimeter, we give every house marks out of 10. We couldn’t agree on the best house last night. #3 liked a really tasteful north pole garden scene complete with reindeer and penguins, I preferred a full colour disco house with flashing merry Christmas sign.

We agreed to run it again with Mrs & she’ll get the deciding vote.

We went family climbing today - well, one of my kids was working in the climbing gym, but the rest of us climbed. Thoroughly enjoyed my Christmas dinner leftovers for lunch afterwards

We’ve just had leftovers. Boxing Day is so much better than Xmas Day IMO. All the spoils and none of the work. (unless your kids have a bloody birthday of course   )

So do you get to skip the line? Family benefits and all that?

Got the bike ready but too much black ice on the road. Went and did intervals instead, hopefully get a turbo later

Gym this morning.

15 minute row.
3 sets each of banded clamshells, banded and weights bridges, sit ups and side planks.

Should do a 30 minute spin class later! :crossed_fingers:

Absolutely miserable out there.

30 x 1m odd hill reps.

Was going to do 35 but weather was heavy rain and very heavy winds, (nearly blew me off my feet whenever I reached the top of the hill :joy: ), and the snow on the ground wasn’t shifting. It was like running up slippery sand dunes.

Maybe 35 then in the New Year.

Managed my first swim in three months at lunchtime.
Just did 1,600m broken down into 100s and 50s with a little bit of kick thrown in too.
My shoulders were screaming at me from the first rep onwards but got through it.
Maybe one more solo session at the weekend and then back to 3 times a week club sessions from January.
