Training - What Training?!

Frustratingly I’ve done zero training since mid-February for the usual reasons. Yesterday I attempted to regain 6 weeks lost fitness in 60 minutes. You’d think I’d know better after all these years :roll_eyes:

Geriatric would accurately describe my joints this morning :grinning:

They must all lease cars with private plates on !

Total waste of time PT session first thing.

Not happy !

I’m not sure they’re for 60 minutes, more recognition of my stupidity I think.

As an aside, I’m a cash buyer with standard plates :upside_down_face:

Great session on Saturday:
8:30am 3km warmup followed by 19:45 parkrun (first time under 20 this year due to hamstring injury)

4pm go to meet some friends for a run, and end up running 37.5km in 3h10m on hilly forest trails.

Legs were fine on Sunday, so did another 12.5km run

Last week I ran 115km, including 3 x 5k at under 4:00m/km pace (Sun, Wed, Sat)

Turns out 6 months of strength training and a bit of cycling doesn’t translate into running fitness… :joy:

Hail storm jog.
5.2km in 30 minutes.
Wet and cold doesn’t describe it.

I was similar earlier. It’s been literally freezing all day with sleet. FFS, is there anyhing worse than sleet? Just miserable. Either rain or snow, stop fucking about. My rant worked, it turned into the biggest snow storm for weeks :roll_eyes:

Sacked off my six hour ride. As it was over Kinder to the Snake, off road. CBA.

Taking my third pair of headphones in 18 months back to John Lewis, filling the car up, getting a new dog lead, then going out for an easy couple of hours instead :roll_eyes::face_with_peeking_eye:

I went out for a walk yesterday to try and ease my back up. I turned back after about 400mtrs, that wind was very fierce and then it started raining. Weirdly, the weather from the office window made me think it would be much warmer.

It’s not a lot better today TBH.

Training is working for me. Have been doing squats 3 times a week since the beginning of March and decided to test max power on the bike today. Finally managed 5s > 1000W. Previous best had been 992W set well over a year ago. Was at 843W just 6 weeks ago. New PB at 1012W.

Felt I probably have more in the tank but still quite fatigued so hope to see this improve as well.

Also hit best 10s power ever (902W) even though I wasn’t targeting this.

Now, if only I could do this at the end of a Zwift race…
